And wouldn’t be able to play the last 5 minutes of a close game in the 4th quarter.
Not sure that is being scapegoated when you’re gonna pay a guy 35 mill or whatever and you can’t play him in close games. Cant play Simmons is the new cant play Kanter. Except one gets paid all NBA money.
Imagine the backlash if we sat CJ for the last 5 minutes of every close game?

if we had a coach with balls CJ would’ve been benched plenty of times late in games when he goes into all chuck/no defense mode. Both players have flaws. But their strengths also fill the other teams weaknesses.

This is what I’m trying to say. I wouldn’t count on him at all for scoring.

But you can’t pay a guy that much and turn him into a Meyers Leonard cheerleader in the 4th Q.

Difference is that is dependent on shot making or not.

You can literally force Simmons to the bench just by fouling him. Period.

And imagine if the Blazers were forced to bench CJ - not due to our coaches decision - but purely based on the strategy of the other team.

You think Blazer fans wouldn’t bitch even more about his contract?

“Cant even play him in the 4th Q!”
“How are you paying 40 mill for a guy that can’t even finish the game!”

The one caveat is i guess you could think we would be so dominant that teams wouldn’t even be close enough in the 4th.

34% free throw shooter. That is horrific.

Wow that was a gutsy win by the Clippers. On the road, no Leonard. I didn't think they had that in them.

He was UFA when he left and he already had his made up to leave to Dallas. He then was traded to Philly.

Between Philly, Milwaukee, and New York one of these teams has to convince themselves that CJ is better than the shot creation options that are currently on their rosters, right?

Gobert is a pretty good defender, but it is interesting to me how a 3-time Defensive Player of the year can look so average. There is more to defense than shot-blocking, especially when teams are taking 40-50 3s a game. I just don't see how he or any center can be voted defender of the year these days. Not with how the game has changed.

Those are the obvious teams but I imagine there are some that have a high value for CJ that aren't so obvious to us but yeah, those are the teams I would imagine would be calling about CJ for sure. The only one that there were reports that they wanted CJ this season were the Knicks. The Knicks wouldn't offer what we want which is better talent or at least better fit to help Dame now but they could have pieces a third team might want that can trade us something to help us now.

The question that I think is more important than what teams have a high value on CJ is, does that high value meet up closely enough with Neil's overvalue, to allow a deal to get done?

Funny how all message boards are about the same. Just went over to one of the Jazz sites. The teams and players might have different names but the posts are all pretty similar after a loss. The coach made no adjustments, the refs cost them about 7 points, certain players are slow and terrible, they need to get rid of Rudy's contract, they need to clean house if they lose on Saturday... someone can't guard the pick n roll, we should never have traded so much for (Conley) etc etc.

These playoffs have been kind of underwhelming in general for me. No villains. Too many injured players. I dunno.
