I’m surprised Carlisle wanted out of Dallas. Good young team, great owner.

make that another team we got to compete with for candidates. Bucks job will open up too if they lose this series.

We might not get our 1st or even 2nd choice

So many reasons stotts should have been fired earlier.

was thinking the same, but seeing Carlisle flat out resign gives you pause. And check out his note to Woj. Notes everyone but doesn't include Luka. Why anyone would want to leave Luka is beyond me. But Rick just did.

Then you have the GM leaving/firing from yesterday.

    And the Haralabob nonsense.

And the assault cases that Cuban brushed under the rug.

There's some skeletons in that closet.

Cuban is not a "great" owner. He's a meddling big mouth. Good that he's engaged, but I always got the feeling like he got in the way.

I don't know.... they have Luka and... who?

Luka is really young and there's a lot of room for growth, but the team is pretty crap outside of Luka, and Cuban has whiffed on A LOT of moves.

Overall we have more talent on paper.

Moseley has to be favorite for Mavs job.
Carlisle probably to Bos / Mil.

Cuban looks like a massive pain in the ass to work for.

    It’s not even about talent.
People completely ignore franchise stability and other circumstances.
Illmatic outlined some above; coincidentally he/she/they think NOP is a better job but ignores the skeletons in that closet.

I have no idea. And who knows what could throw a wrench into it. Was just told it’s one of those two, this was last week, maybe someone else pops up no clue. I’m sure if it’s someone else everyone will remind me.

    Yep.

And like New Orleans, there's going to be pressure to win and win now with an imperfect and unbalanced roster.

That Dallas roster is no where near title-contending, but because they have Luka, expectations will be through the roof.

The delay in filling the job may not be on Olshey. He may have offered it and with all the openings guys are making them wait.

This seems to be the summer to get a coaching change. I see a few more jobs opening up.

-Milwaukee if they lose this series.
-Spurs if Pop decides to bow out (some vague rumors on Spurs boards about this)
    -Kings

    That would great 10 openings.

We need to get out and make our offers quicker if we want our candidate. I hate that we're being pushed into this, but we're gonna be in the bottom half of choices for openings and there's only a finite number of viable coaches. But I'm guessing there will be some musical chairs of sorts. Stotts, Carlisle, and even Brooks might fill a job immediately.

literally zero teams have hired a new coach, so I don’t know how you can say Portland is dragging their feet. For all we know they could already have an agreement with someone and are waiting for their team to be eliminated.

How many openings were there when we fired Stotts? One? Boston I think? Now there are what..... five or six? We can't go through a long hiring process. Hopefully they have a candidate they like and they have made an offer.

The tension between Carlisle and 22-year-old superstar Luka Doncic had increasingly become concerning within the Mavs organization, sources said. Doncic showed up Carlisle several times this season, such as making animated gestures on the court when he disagreed with a decision or yelling at Carlisle in front of assistant coaches and teammates.

Sounds like a fun time where do I sign up
