Now that we've had a chance to brag bout the new Celtic arrivals, let's take a moment to remember some of the things we'll definitely miss during the 2007/2008 Celtics NBA season.

    Overthepastmonthwe'velostmorethanhalftheteamfromlastyear,includingkeypartssuchasDelonte West, RyanGomesandAlJefferson.

SomeotherpartsalsoincludedWallySzczerbiak(wehardlyknewya, butlet'skeepitthatway),TheoRatliff(ditto), Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green and the fifth pick ( [IMG] ).

    Sooutofallthoseplayerswhatwillyoumissthemost?Eachindividual?

I'llmissDelonte'shustleaftereveryball. His key (but rare) defensive plays and shot.

Jefferson'sreboundingandpostmoves. God I enjoyed watching him pump fake players two or three times, multiple times in the game.

Wally'sconstantmistakesonthefloor and selfishness to pass the ball.

Telfair and whose jersey was always too large for him. His spead to take it to the basket (sadly he always got blocked).

    Green'sathleticismanddunks.Pretty much his whole aerialgame.

    andTheo'sinsurancemoney.

But personally,ImustadmitthatI'llmissRyanGomescleaningupthegarbageunderthebasketandhittinghisautomaticmid-rangeshot. The kid was a steal in the 2nd round and worked his butt off throughout both season with the Celtics. Since his first games he's played like a ten year veteran, showing his basketball IQ and willingless to strive help the team win.

i'll miss people saying something along the lines of "next year, these young players will develop and lead this celtics team into the playoffs".

lol, true, I listen to WEEI a lot during drives to work, school, etc and I can't understand how so many people say that. They keep saying the trade was bad, that big al and GG were the future, I mean yea they won 24 games in the eastern conference. Big Al is going to be good, but how long could we have waited for that. Pierce would have probably sucked by the time Big Al became an "allstar" or say a "superstar".

I will miss Big Al. He was coming into his own and was looking forward to seeing him grow into a consistent player/star.

I will miss Gomes. He did whatever was asked and did it well. He's a smart and classy player.

Green was starting to piss me off. He was not progressing very well and seemed to still be playing like an 18 year old HS star. I am not sure he has the head or the work ethic to turn that athletic skill into an NBA talent. We'll see.

    Wally career is almost done.

Theo is done, his value is in the contract.

Bassy may still get his shit together, but not enough to make him missed.

The 5th pick? We did not need another young guy.

More importantly, I think Ray/Pierce/Garnett will help me to not look back for even a second. Can't wait for the seaon to start. 3 very hungry allstars still in their prime - if at the end of their prime. Amazing.

True - I did not expect a star over night at all. But he's progressed slower than I thought he would. With the injuries last season he saw a lot of PT. He was a lost pup on D and his offens still ran on talent over brains. He won't be the next T-Mac. If he becomes a solid NBA started I'll be impressed. And I was saying this well before the trade.

You guys are ridiculous Green won't be a star. Causeway, give me a break, face it, you don't know much about Gerald Green. Took too long to develop? He's 21 and played 1 1/2 seasons with the Celtics. If that's TOO long then you need help. If this kid plays 35-38 a game in Minnesota, he'll easily develop into one of the leagues deadly scoring threats.

Last season for the Celtics, he played 81 games, started 26, averaged 22 mpg and in those minutes his averages were 10ppg, 2.6rpg, 1apg, 0.5spg, 0.3blg.

Like I said, I don't see him becoming a star in this league. Maybe another Jason Richardson?

Now if he had gone to college for a year or two, his game would have improved, he would have become a better shooter and understand and learn the fundementals of the game.

What I said was that from what we have seen, I thought we'd of seen more progress, not that he should already be a star. Does he still have time? Of course. I was very high on Green (Gerald that is). But from what I have seen - which is about every minute he's played - he will not be close to a star in the NBA.

Yeah, good luck with that. Gerald is a year younger than LeBron, and hasn't exactly impressed anyone with his head for the game. I sincerely doubt that he'll get a lot of playing time over Brewer and McCants.

I agree with Causeway. Green hasn't shown really any kind of improvement whatsoever, and even in the summer league it looked more like he regressed rather than progressed. He continues to look lost on the floor. Combine that with the fact that there is no real veteran leader in Minnesota to help Gerald out, I don't see him making a significant improvement this year.
