Saw an interesting article on Brown. The brief summary. Nice guy; players like him. Causes frustration by refusal to adapt on the fly. Causes frustration with perceived lack of accountability. Front office hired him with the expectation he would only last 2-3 years. Recent roster changes didn't do him any favors. Bottom line is that he and Stotts have a lot in common!
POR: Kevin Love, Darius Garland, Pick Swap (#5) CLE: CJ, Zach Collins, Pick Swap (high teens?) Skip on Philly. I Actually think this would benefit both teams, even out lineups for both teams. Dame / Garland Trent / Simons Ariza / Hood / Little Love / Melo Nurkic / Whiteside then pray we land one of Toppin, Wiseman, Ball, Okoro, or Avdija at #5 Cleveland levels out too... Sexton / Exum CJ / Windler Osman / Porter Nance / Collins Drummond / Zizic they can use our pick on a big man.
I think your prospects of landing one of five players with the fifth pick are pretty good, probably no need for any prayers on that one.
I was thinking about the Bill Simmons Podcast suggestion of CJ and RoCo for Simmons. A way it would almost make sense for the Sixers is if they could be assured of getting Kyle Lowry. Is that possible? (Also: Morey has acquired RoCo before, and of course RoCo was a Sixer before.)
If I was Philly, I'd play CJ at the 1. McCollum/Thybulle/Covington/Harris/Embiid Maxey/Curry/Korkmaz/Howard off the bench
I get fans tend to overvalue their players, but come on! The best clutch shooter in the NBA for perhaps the worst shooter in the NBA? I think not.
Read the comments. Nearly everyone there thinks Simmons' value is a lot closer to that of CJ than Dame. Which is just unbelievable in my mind. I really hope Daryl listens to their fans.
We could live with Simmons not taking a jump shot. His ball-handling (and size) allows him to get the rim. But what we couldn't live with is his poor free-throw shooting. That HAS to get better. And I find it hard to believe it can't. Even Andre Jordan eventually improved (Until this year) But his D and Passing and rebounding are hard to resist. Even if he is overpaid.
he's shooting 34% from the line this year. But he shot 71% his rookie year on nearly the same number of attempts. And 58% the subsequent year. think he's just got some mental stuff going on at the line. it's not unusual.
Same. Simmons free throw shooting is what scare me away. I much rather have Harris when the game is on the line and we need a shot.
