Kinda dealing with this right now. My daughters Top 3 colleges she wants to attend just so happen to be private Catholic universities. She has never been in a church except for a funeral or wedding. Going to be interesting.

Why does she want to go to a Catholic school if she isn't religious?

If she's good enough to go to the NWSL, eventually, it is good to go to a power school for soccer. However, if she's realistic and realizes that her chances of making it as a professional soccer player are slim, she'd be best to go to a college that A: offers what she's interested in doing for her life and B: offers the most scholarships/ etc.

Scholarships are a big one. That would definitely be a major focus if this was my kid.

She just finished up her sophomore year of HS. College recruiting for soccer officially started this week. She had a list of about 25 schools that she sent out her resume/highlights/grades…….to. Her preferences were based on location/majors available/soccer program. Usually these kids sign their senior season, but 3 of her top choices reached out to her at 12:01am! So it’s narrowed down to UofP, Gonzaga and Loyola Marymount. We haven’t even discussed the religious side of things yet. It’s not a deal breaker if they want to give her scholarships and pay for her education.

These days if you can get through college free and clear, you have a MAJOR leg up on everyone else your age.

I'd convert to scientology if they offered to pay my student loans off.

She'll be fine going to a Catholic school. They are usually very well funded.

And expensive. My cousins went to Santa Clara. Couple hundred thousand dollars later they got their shiny degrees. Ones a stay at home mom.

I’m sure your daughter we’ll be getting most of her schooling on scholarship though.

Some of the smartest people ever were agnostic; Einstein, Ben Franklin, Darwin, Alexander Graham Bell….etc.

Some of the most gullible went to Liberty University.

...and she is majoring in "Strategic Communications" so she can work at a family/pro bono law firm :dunno: interesting strategy there -- no mention of Law School or paralegal work -- then does that just mean an "educated" executive assistant job?

I went to LMU. They don't force you to go to any mass (Pepperdine does), they are pretty liberal leaning as well. I took like one religion class the whole time there, I think you can take one that compares different religions. Its pretty good with diversity, but lately , its become a spoiled Orange County type of crowd from what I hear, all the rich parents send their kids there rather than USC nowadays, its gotten really expensive. The facilities are top notch though, they must be rollin it it.

My first keg was pumped by a Jesuit Priest, it was a "welcome" to all students that went to a Jesuit High school, they were chill.
