I'm not the one who suggested she got an interview only for "good press" because she's "the woman."

You’re pretty naive if you don’t think it’s possible a company would give an interview to a specific person for PR reasons. Doesn’t mean I agree with the concept.

Neil loves good press in this day of negative shit sells better than positive shit! If he hires Becky, he will be beloved in many circles because he hired the first Women head coach in the NBA. Next will be a super star from the WNBA to fill out the three position. Then he becomes legendary and his legacy is sealed.

smh.. gettin tiring reading this sorta shit.

if this hire fails, the first one to lose his job is Olshey. He's not gonna make a hire for PR for Godsakes when HIS job is on the line. Hiring the first woman will do him no good if she bombs because it will be his neck that gets chopped off.

And we really don't need to go over her credentials again. If she gets the job, she will have earned it regardless of gender.

Try and have a since of humor, its way better than being confrontational all the time.

you’re giving way too much credit to Olshey. This is the same dude that re-signed Melo for mainly PR reasons (“carriers of his legacy” or whatever he termed it) so I don’t know why it’d be such a leap to think his bullshit could extend to his coaching search. Dudes got the muzzle on Portland media. He cares about optics very much.

Stotts just had two of the historically WORST defenses ever in the history of the league. Hard to see this when you bin these into top/bottom 10.

No one is calling MDA Thibs, but he's a step above Stotts (and quite a big one).

his seat is a lot hotter now than it was last year. his summer was universally claimed as great prior to last season. If he prioritizes PR over legitimate credentials, then he should be fired this instant.

He didn’t having a losing record 2 years in LA. He had a losing record once - the year Kobe played 6 games.
why don’t you compare Stotts entire career like you’re comparing D’Antonis? Not just Stotts time in Portland.
Let me fix the numbers for you.

    Stotts bottom 10: 22, 25, 23, 29, 26, 24, 28, 29 and one year he was exactly 20th.

Becky is going to win out. Jody is the owner and Chauncey has the dark past.

if its true that jody wants becky and that olshey wants billups, i assume that olshey doesnt want to go against jody or he could be on a thin ice

but if he goes with becky, he will likely be in jodys good graces

If Neil wants Billups, he should push for Billups. Being in Jody's good graces won't mean much if the team is bad. Olshey is the first person getting fired regardless of who the coach is or where he stands with Jody.

Vulcans have a poor track record of anything basketball related.

    Fuck off, NERDS!

Sigh. Honestly I find it really tough to believe that Jody Allen went from being super hands off and not really caring about the Blazers (outside of financially), to suddenly pushing for a head coaching candidate, and one that just happens to be female. And to be quite honest, I don't really trust Olshey's evaluation either given his track record. So between Jody, Neil and the Vulcans, I don't really trust that we are going to hire the best candidate. I just don't trust anyone's decision here.

His combine record in LA was loosing record. Yes he had a winning season but his 2nd year was so bad that wind up with a loosing record.

I'm not going to pretend to know Jody or her politics, but if she's someone who doesn't know much about ball, she could see this as an opportunity to put her stamp on the team and do something she's passionate about. Think about it, if you were a woman and you had a chance to advance women's rights and pick someone that's widely respected, wouldn't that make you sit up and take interest? The Blazers were Paul's toy. I'm still not really convinced that Jody is that interested in the team. But I don't find it outside the realm of possibility that she could see this as a way to make a lasting impact from outside Paul's shadow.
