If Nurk were to be traded, who are we most likely to get?

Not a huge Nurk or big plodding Center guy so this works for me..

    Dame/Quickley
    Powell/Ant
    RoCo/Nas
    Simmons
    Noel(FA)/Zach

That would be fun to watch.

I don't think the Knicks will be one of the teams paying attention to the Nurk situation. Mitchell Robinson is their C now and of the future. He's legit and I'd probably take him over Nurk; plus they only have to pay the guy 1.8M next season.

What specifically will I be seeing and when will I see it by?

    Something, eventually?

I hope Toronto likes Nurk because if we do get a Simmons for CJ thing done... I would like to trade Nurk for Boucher and Baynes... if I had to throw in a future second or even a protected future first I would do it. Then get Norm re-signed.

Dame, Norm, RoCo, Boucher, Simmons, Ant, Nas, DJ (I really believe he'll opt in), Zach, Baynes is a deep team that is really pretty big but potent offensively.

Do you think Toronto would do that?

It depends on what they think of Nurk and his future. Both of those guys are three point shooting bigs... Boucher is also a shot blocker but Nurk is a true big and if they want that, he's also younger than both of the guys.

For that reason, in terms of trade value, I'm not sure Nurk is a top 15 center in the NBA.

I think he is to some teams. That article that said there are teams that are paying close attention to the Nurk situation means there still are teams that want a true big man. Nurk is athletic for his size and if he wanted to he could dominate the paint on both ends.

If we don't get Simmons and end up with a forward that can shoot the three in return for CJ then I'll want to keep Nurk. It's just that I know we can't start two guys who have no shot outside.

So if we get Simmons, Nurk has got to go but if we traded CJ to the Knicks, the Knicks and us send enough to get us Siakam... I'm down with Dame, Norm, RoCo, Siakam and Nurk as one of the best starting lineups in the league... and no I don't know if Toronto would do that deal either.

I'm with you. I like Nurk when he's healthy and mentally engaged and I suspect other teams would like that version of him as well. It's the two qualifiers, combined that make me question his value. If we could get a top 7 back in return for him, we'd be crazy to pass that offer up.

I like Nurk very much as a player. I like his skillset, but i have seen little growth from him and it's not all Stotts. He stills commits stupid fouls, he still misses a lot of easy baskets and he still hasn't expanded his range. Maybe it's the injuries that don't allow him to work, but at this point if he ever manages to stay healthy for an extended period it's a big if.
The problem with his trade value is that he is more important to us than any other team that i can think of that wants to win now. So i don't think there is a good package out there.

toronto fans are not happy with their centers

theyd take nurk in a heartbeat (theyre worried about his injuries, but when it comes to his quality , theyd love to have him)

nurk would kill it in nick nurse system, cause he can coach defense and those boys can play defense

I think two-way centers like Nurk still have some value. You need somebody in the middle who can defend Jokic, Ayton and Embiid and not get completely destroyed, while also taking advantage of other teams that try to guard them with a small forward. Gobert and Simmons were useless because they just couldn't take advantage of their size.

But unless you are on that tier of center, you're really a role player who might go an entire playoff series without starter minutes. Zubac was basically a complete non-factor in the first round, and he's starting now because of Ayton.

Nurkic is more on the Zubac tier than he is the Jokic/Ayton/Embiid tier, even if he doesn't want to admit it. If we can get Simmons, Nurk must be traded. He won't be happy getting treated like Zubac has in the playoffs this year. An unhappy Nurk makes everyone unhappy.

If we can't get Simmons, well, we probably should keep Nurk for the reasons Ed states. A lot of his game complements Dame's, and so anyone we trade Nurk for probably won't bring back the value we give up.

Healthy and motivated, Nurk is a difference maker. Sadly, he too often falls into the Batum category of really being able to make a difference....but often not doing so.

I’m little shocked out how down people are on Nurk. Thought he played some really good basketball in the playoffs and was huge difference maker on defense. Does he make silly fouls yes he is young that will only get better. He’s a very good passer and he’s doing a better job of finishing around the rim. This would be a terrible time to trade a player who is on the rise. Only way I trade Nurk is in package deal to upgrade someone like Towns

I believe Nurk (or anyone) could be traded really fast. The question is what type of value will we get in return. That's my question.

Undoubtedly Nurk is the best center on the roster. It was clear when he would get 4 fouls in 5 minutes, how much we missed him being on the court. The problem was the nature of his fouls and what appeared to be his lack of understanding of his impact on the team. When he's in the right mindset, and healthy, he's a load!

He’s not THAT young anymore. He will be 27 in August. That’s squarely in the veteran category.
