its beyond me how can anyone think that mike dantoni would be a good choice perhaps he would make some tweaks offensively, but philosophy would remain the same: "shoot as many threes as you can" and thats the opposite of what blazers need to do, another problem is the same thing terry stotts said: "were confident in what were doing", meaning when houston rockets couldnt hit a three to save their lives in game 7 against gsw (they had like 20+ consecutive missed threes), they just kept on chucking, no adjustments were made whatsoever then comes the defense, which is literally the biggest problem of this team and i cannot trust mike dantoni or his assistant to fix our defense on top of that, mike dantoni is the players coach, which is the same as terry stotts, so dont count on him holding players accountable, if anything, it will be worse than it was with terry stotts and in the best case scenario, it would be just as bad as it was under terry stotts... theres a lot of things that need to be changed and mike dantoni isnt the right coach for that task
D'Antoni isn't my number one choice but he's not as soft as Stotts and their offenses are incredibly different. D'Antoni has a ton of player movement while he has a PG probing on most set plays. He also pushes the fast break. His defenses are actually a product of his offense and they both aggressively go after turnovers and pound the glass to get outlet passes. Hell, D'Antoni's teams have been known to run the break off of made shots. There would be a seismic change that would be very obvious. Like I said, he's not my first choice but if they do hire him, I'll be really excited for the fact that Dame will get an MVP in the next two seasons and we'll be entering the playoffs with HCA. The fact that you're able to bitch about what the Rockets did in the seventh game of the WCF actually makes me pretty excited at the prospect of getting D'Antoni. Obviously, I would want there to be a young defensive specialist hired as the associate head coach and I would only want D'Antoni's deal to be for three years with the understanding that the new associate head coach would take over has head coach at the end of that contract. Regardless the idea that you're floating that hiring D'Antoni would assure the philosophies on the team would stay the same is so far off, I find it laughable.
I know this is @Tince thing, but in no world does a coach guarantee an MVP and HCA. That's a crazy assertion.
It's not a guarantee, it's just what I see as a likelihood if you match up Dame with D'Antoni. He's gotten a lot out of superstars with similar skills to Dame and a worse roster than we currently have got HCA under Stotts. I also think we'll move CJ for something that fits better around Dame and we'll get Norm back who is a better compliment to Dame even though CJ is the better player. I'm not guaranteeing any of this shit, I'm just saying that it would be likely under the D'Antoni system. That being said, I still want Chauncey and think that this team with a move of CJ for a better defender and Norm returning can be a defensive powerhouse that also scores well.
If Dame sat in on the Billups interview why wouldn't he sit in on the others? I'm not sure I buy that he only sat in on the Billups interview.
Fizdale as an assistant? I know *certain* players like him & all, but I don't think that would be a good move.
Can we stop using MDA for D'anPhoney please. Everytime i see it i think of Jerry Lewis and all the great work he did for MDA. Ed McMahon was Jerry's defensive coordinator.
After Fizdale's performance in Memphis and NY, I want nothing to do with that guy. His hits on ESPN aren't helping him either.
