What's funny about this is that I write left handed, I eat left handed, but I do all sports right handed. Not sure why. I probably should have been right handed, but doing sports left handed felt wrong so I just decided on my own to play sports right handed.

    This is called cross dominance.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-dominance

It doesn't necessarily mean you're right or left handed.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
After everyone in Philadelphia vented their spleen, this is where they have to end up, because Simmons is extremely talented and they can't possibly hope to recoup his ability in a similarly-talented box of another shape.

He's a very tall prime Jason Kidd, which means he'd be one of the best players in the league in any other era, but in this era, inability to shoot at all is a fatal flaw. He can't tie together all his value without some semblance of a shot. Other teams know that, so they're not going to trade an effective superstar for a fatally-flawed one. Philadelphia's only hope of reaping his value is getting him comfortable enough with shooting that he A. shoots when he's left open and B. hits enough of them that the outcome of the average possession in which he shoots is positive (which means the three-point mark he needs to be above is probably around 33%).

He may never get there, but that's at least not an impossible standard. Kidd himself showed that improved shooting isn't impossible. If Simmons can hit enough three-pointers that not defending him isn't a viable strategy, suddenly everything else he does at a very high level catapults him into a potential top-ten player. He'd basically become the new Scottie Pippen.

I mean, the other option for Philadelphia is to trade Embiid for value, but that ain't happening. You can build your offense around one high-minutes non-shooter but not two.

Cue massive discussion over whether CJ is "All-Star Caliber"....

I still say Minny should give up Russell for him at a minimum. Last I read, they really want Simmons but also see Russell as part of their core. Does that mean they'd give up Anthony Edwards? And even if they would, Philly should only do that if they can also get Kyle Lowry.

    here is the article

After a disappointing defeat in the second round of the playoffs to Atlanta, the 76ers and president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has been surveying the landscape for ways to improve their roster. Philadelphia lost to the Hawks in seven games in the Eastern Conference semifinals, culminating in coach Doc Rivers and MVP runner-up Joel Embiid singling out Ben Simmons’ play.

The mandate was for Simmons and Embiid to coexist on the court this past season under their new head coach and regime and to make a deep playoff run. Neither was accomplished. By all accounts, Embiid and Simmons have never been closer — off the court. But from Simmons’ inclusion in trade packages for James Harden with the Houston Rockets during the season to critical comments made about him from key 76ers people after Game 7, the writing is on the wall for Simmons and his future with the franchise.

The 76ers have opened up trade conversations surrounding Simmons and have engaged with teams, sources told The Athletic. Those sources also say that teams that have engaged with the 76ers about Simmons have been met with a high price threshold for the three-time All-Star.

“(The 76ers) want an All-Star-caliber player in return,” one source with knowledge of the ongoing talks said.

Make no mistake: Interest across the league in Simmons remains robust. He’s turning just 25 this month, was an All-NBA team member in 2019-20, is a two-time All-Defensive first-team member and a Rookie of the Year award winner. Simmons is under contract through 2025, making him the type of superstar talent that rarely becomes available at an attainable price at this juncture of his career.

Simmons decided to skip the Tokyo Olympics this summer with the Australian national team to spend time on his individual game. For Simmons, this is the crossroads of his career. So far, there appears to be renewed determination within him about bettering his game, even if he could be playing elsewhere soon.

CJ and two firsts is the starting point IMO. And only way I see that going down is if the Sixers can’t find a deal before training camp.

It would be interesting to find out where this noise is coming from. Is Rich Paul angling to get Ben out, or is Daryl trying to increase his value? It doesn't seem like it's coming from other teams

I still think getting Simmons makes sense, but I'm also starting to wonder if the fit will work.

Dame is horrible at moving without the ball. I seriously think a three way that sends assets to Philly from GS, Simmons to the Warriors, and Draymond to Portland would make the most sense. I have absolutely loved the chemistry between Dame and Draymond in the exhibitions.

This is why the Dame rumors really couldn't have come at a worse time. Teams that we would have approached about trades for CJ are thinking all they need to do is hold out for a little while until Dame becomes available.

couldnt agree more. This offseason is already sucking more than most. Itll likely go down as the longest/worst offseason in our history due to all the speculations and waiting on the edge of our seats for some move to be made or something solid to drop.
Can we just fast forward 6 weeks and see how we look?
