True but most didn't like him because of his policies, not because of those charges.

Same thing happened when he went to ESPN and the Clippers. You just weren’t invested in him then. That’s my guess anyway?

Your right allegations is just allegations until you to pay for them allegations to go away.

I’m still not 100% convinced this is going to happen. Enough noise and this gets vetoed quickly by either Blazer brass or Billups if he decides he doesn’t want to deal with small town Portland.

Settlements for high profile individuals to make bad pr go away doesn’t mean guilty. It’s a bad look, but that’s all it is

Then he shouldn't have paid and right there makes him people think if didn't do anything wrong why pay. I don't want happen that night if guilty or not guilty but paying to get rid of allegations will make people thinking that he might of done something wrong. Believe me this will hit the ticket sales at the start and some season ticket holder.

I'm kinda thinking/hoping that happens too. But that'll make the blazers look worse. Actually, they'll look bad no matter what they do, even if they don't hire Chauncy and somehow hire Becky. It'll just be "why didn't you go with her first!?"

It won’t hurt business, at all.
And clearly you don’t know the history of the justice system for black men.

It's easier to do that than to fight it, and they just hope it doesn't make the news.

not at all. Anyone who gives their tickets up will have them snatched up by someone else.

This'll all be an old story real quick if chaunceys pr team does the right thing.
Of thsi was brought up in the past you refer to the comments of the past and state as much “ please refer to my statements the last time you guys brought this up…” and simply ask for the next question.

And if we come out of the gates winning, itll be old news ten games in.

I guess if you figure John Canzano and the Oregonian not the local sports media you would be correct.

    But-

"Sex-assault survivor Brenda Tracy is in disbelief today. Maybe you will be, too, after you read the details of the troubling allegations pointed at Billups and a couple of his teammates in November of 1997.

A night out at a comedy club ended with a woman calling police and getting a rape kit at the hospital. The exam revealed “injuries to her throat, cervix, and rectum, along with bruising on her back consistent with someone being dragged across a rug. Sperm had been retrieved from her vagina.”

No it didn't. This hasn't been brought up at all until Portland got involved. These are the articles that I found on Billups just last year on the Clippers hire. I TRIED to find anything about the allegations from 24 years ago in any article. Maybe someone else can dig it up, but I can't find a single mention. Just from this fanbase. I wish Portland fans could just be happy that this franchise just got a hell of a talented ex basketball player who seems primed to be a very god coach.

This is the type of writing that was out there about Billups last year: "Since his retirement from the NBA in 2014, there’s been an expectation that Billups would find himself wearing a suit on the sidelines one day, and that time has come. As the point guard of the 2004 NBA Champion Detroit Pistons, Chauncey has seen a team that wins through hard-nosed defense and playing together. We can only hope that he brings that same sort of leadership to the Clippers as a coach."

    https://basketballforever.com/2020/10/15/clippers-hire-tyronn-lue-as-head-coach
"Good news is Lue could be getting some good minds on the bench. It was also reported that it looks as if Chauncey Billups will be his lead assistant. Which would be a tremendous hire for Lue, as Billups is very defensive oriented and thought by many as one of the highest IQ players of his time."

Even this more recent article from the Boston Herald makes no mention of it, while simultaneously making mention of Kidd's past. They mention Billups as everyone's favorite in Boston (which was very accurate) - https://www.bostonherald.com/2021/06/03/0603-bh-s-celtics/
"He’s everyone’s favorite candidate, and maybe even overdue for a head coaching position despite only one season (2020-21) as an assistant on Ty Lue’s staff. But he fits the current ideal of a former player — the 2004 NBA Finals MVP — who can command the respect of a locker room immediately."

https://thunderousintentions.com/2020/10/29/okc-thunder-chauncey-billups-candidate/ - Clippers site wanting to hire Billups
This is the ONLY article that I found that made any mention whatsoever of Billups' past - https://pelicandebrief.com/2020/09/04/new-orleans-pelicans-chauncey-billups/2/

But if he doesn't win here they will make him ride the RAPO TRAIN out of here.
