Pops Mensah Bonsu with 26 pts and total domination of the chinese! heck yeah! Think hes ready for some real nba action?
24/10 for Pops and he looks to be the Josh Powell of a few years ago - great rebounder and quite ferocious in the paint - but seemed to play a bit out of control during the game
Some peoples impressions of him from DB.com
"Pops was a beast out there, he really was aggressive, taking it right to the hole every chance he got. If he were bigger he'd really be a beast because he's not particularly clever around the basket, but he's really aggressive (bonzi wells type) at getting there."
"ops: Dominated with his athleticism. I think he had 10 at halftime. Was fouled on a couple of viscious dunk attempts. Was very bouncy. Still can't shoot. Capped Yi Jianlian in a way that would make some men cry."
"A+: Pops Mensah-Bonsu: Whale Killer was flat out the best player on the floor for the Mavs offensively and defensively. He does look stronger than the last time I saw him play, hopefully that is a good omen. Led the Mavs in scoring with 24 points and probably led them in rebounding and blocked shots."

"Pops: Easily the most memorable player of the night. If he plays this way all summer, he's got a REAL shot of making it. I was totally impressed with his activity on the court...he was everywhere! He has a quick step on both sides of the court. He held his own, defensively against Yi. Memorable defensive moment was him guarding Yi, and Yi went for a half-fade away jumper and Pops read it dead on and stuffed him dead in his tracks. The biggest thing I got from Pops was how he is working offensively. He seems to like to show face-up first and then go right to back-to-the-basket moves. I definitely liked that and liked his game."

The only players that look like monsters on one level and pitiful on the next are perimeter/finesse players who are weakminded. Pops is none of that.
Pops was always really hot and cold at GW too. But he's still a top notch shot blocker even in the NBA.

Brandon Bass, on the other hand... I can't tell that he's got much of anything going for him.

Im glad to know that Pops is doing good, I love him. I really am glad to know that hes doing good in the summer league because I want to be seeing some more playing time from him this year.
Much too out-of-control to make this roster. He's always looking to make that highlight reel. I think he has the tools to be a terrific Dennis Rodman-type of player, but I don't think he's on the team next year, especially with the signing of Bass.
