Siakam is trending because of all the Warriors trade talks. (7/Wiseman) Maybe Dame knows something we don't, or maybe he's just interested that Siakam may be available...

Ya my first thought was the trending topic.

But that idea not just 7/wiseman, but also would have to send wiggins out. while he is maple jordan in theory, i highly doubt that contract would appeal to toronto.

I wonder if we can do something with Nurk and bunch of assets for Siakam. Need to find a multi-team deal. Pascal would be a great big man next to Simmons.

Only two years left on Wiggins deal. What's the point of taking Nurk if they think he's an asset? They will need to re-sign him. He's on Siakam's timeline in terms of age but not better. Bunch of other assets also means trying to fill the 15 million salary difference. DJ + Nas at the very least.

I think Siakam is the best stuff in that trade.

Yeh, i would probably go one less draft pick. Would like to not trade Little but I think they would insist on him being included. I really wish Stotts had played Little more so we would know better what we have.

Yeah my point was more that if it costs slightly more to get Simmons (CJ + Change) I’d much prefer that.

    CJ for Simmons seems obvious.

I’m not even high on Simmons but Siakam is not worth CJ, Nas and 2 firsts. I’d honestly hang up the phone if that’s what it took. Probably while laughing.

I’m not even a Simmons fan — he’s a better player — and in my opinion it’s actually not that close. One is a 3x all star; one is 1x. Siakam can shoot better, sure, but Simmons literally does everything else better.

    Simmons is also younger.

Has a higher OWS and DWS on lower usage, also.

Nurk/RoCo/2 1st(future) for Pascal works financially.

CJ to Indy for Turner/LeVert also works.

    Dame
    Powell/Simons
    LeVert/Nas
    Siakam
    Turner/Collins

Is that better than what we have?

I want a #2 who won't wilter in the playoffs and can play off Dame.

CJ McCollum historically has been better in the playoffs than Pascal Siakam. Ben Simmons has been better too.

Ben Simmons has been *much better* than Siakam, actually.

    But ok.

Meh, Siakam is 10x the defender that C.J. is and is a much better playmaker for his position. He's struggled as the #1 but he wouldn't have to be the #1 in Portland. Saying that Ben Simmons has been a better playoff performer than Siakam is false. Siakam played like a #2 on a team that won a championship. Simmons can't get out of the 2nd Round as the #2 or the #3 and this past season played like he was a G-Leaguer who just got called up and wasn't ready for the bright lights.

But if you can sell Toronto on Simmons > Siakam then we could save a future 1st.

Bring in a veteran true PG off the bench and let Ant develop into the Seth Curry SG role, but with way more athleticism, that fits his game. He’s not a PG and refusing addressing that this off-season is crucial and a fireable miss as I see it.

Re-sign Powell. Jody has the dough to cover the tax.

Not sure who’s available in a trade of CJ or Nurkic so for now, the above two things are the bare minimum.

Here's my shot. If Boston is still open you send them a 1st round pick plus an opted in DJJ (for salary purposes, plus maybe Boston finds a use for him he is young), for Smart the 2022 1st round pick with Lottery protection. Then use Billups pull and LA's impending humiliating loss to the Suns, to get Montrezel Harrell to seek greener pastures in the NW. Don't extend QO to Zach and let him walk and pay Montrezel Zach's salary plus whatever more we can afford after re-signing powell. You also let Melo and Kanter walk. I'd resign Melo for a Vet min if he understands his role will be extremely limited.

Finally, the centerpiece (which you do first) a trade of CJ for Simmons that you can bid up to CJ + Little + 2024 Pick Top 8 protected. Heck, you can make it unprotected if need be, but I'd try to have my price at about what I show below.

    PG: Lillard/Smart/Ant
    SG: Powell/Ant/CJ2
    SF: Simmons/RoCo/Powell
    PF: RoCo/Harrell/Melo on vet min?
    C: Nurk/Harrell/Giles

That team is switchable, long, feisty and able to defend and rebound. They also can definitely score with Dame, Nurk, Powell, Simmons, Ant, Smart (clutch buckets) and Harrell cleaning up around the rim.

    Thoughts?

This is really good. The only problem I have with it is that Nurk doesn't spread the floor... if somehow he did get to where he could knock down 2 out of 5 open threes a game, then I would love this roster. The way it stands, if we trade for Simmons which I am all for, then we should trade Nurk realizing that Simmons gives us some flexibility on what we can take back because he can play any position on the court.

I agree about Trading Nurk. I mean if we could swap him and assets for Myles Turner I'd make that happen, or John Collins even. Wait can Collins hit a 3? I honestly don't know and more importantly, I'm too lazy to look.

Swapping Nurk for a modern stretch 4 or 5. Keep in mind you can play Simmons 1-5 which is a HUGE part of why I want him. Having a godlike player who can play the 1-5 is such a luxury and fills so many holes. You can even play Simmons at Center and I think we need to consider that if we trade Nurk.

Here's Simmons (for the doubters if there are any here) going for a near trip dub of 42 points 12 rebounds and 9 assists. He was playing out of position at center going up against league laughing stock defense of the pitiful Utah Jazz. Him doing this to Rudy Gobert means take it with a grain of salt, that guy is a sieve on defense. ;)

Is it crazy I kinda want a Gallinari type next to RoCo and Simmons? You know who would be insane next to Simmons and Lillard? KAT. With his 3pt shooting and RoCo, Powell and Simmons defense plus Lillard? How do you stop that? But yeah no idea how you pull that off. That's the ultimate for a big next to Simmons, but not sure who fits the bill of a 3 and D PF or C?
