I’d be surprised if at least one of those guys wasn’t on staff

Hollins has spoken to the Blazers this off-season

Why do you think playing in the WNBA is some sort of litmus test? People like to point to sexism because it's a woman, but it might just be that women's basketball is NOTHING like men's basketball. Why is Geno Auriemma still coaching UCONN as if it's the height of basketball coaching.? Why is Kelly Graves still at Oregon coaching the women's team and not being snatched up by an NBA team or a blue blood men's team? Sure, some men have coached in both the NBA and WNBA, but no one has started out in women's basketball and been a highly entertained commodity within the men's coaching ranks. Legendary women's coaches who happen to be men are shunned from the men's side of the sport. Why do you think that is if not for the simple aspect of them being completely different levels of competition? Which bringsus to your absurd idea that the WNBA is some competitive arena when it contains less excitement and talent than boys HS AAU basketball.

What is funny is that I think this kid has the physical ability right now to compete in the WNBA at 13, and the only thing that would hold him back is mental maturity because no kid should really be competing with adults. Honestly, I'd love to see basketball goddess Sabrina Ionescu try to stay in front of him. Despite being in her prime athletically, she would be made to look slow.

So basically, non-NBA playing credentials and a handful of years more as an assistant. Billups was known for his leadership and was basically a coach on the floor. I ask you to please read this article about his career because reading your posts, it seems all you care about is the rape allegation and settlement even though Chauncey was investigated by police and DA detectives. Does it even matter that the semen in the accuser wasn’t a DNA match to Chauncey to you?

BTW, Becky Hammon was great friends with Kobe and Vanessa Bryant and their daughters, so does that mean she condones rape since Kobe was actually arrested and arraigned on rape charges before reportedly paying his accuser $2.5 million?

Eight teams. Five trades. Injuries. Doubt. It wasn't always easy for Chauncey Billups. But that hasn't stopped him from putting together one of the NBA's best careers

He didn't steal anything. He talked about what Calvin said on here.... he didn't specifically name who said it, but he didn't take credit for the info.

Dame just got the coach who was a peer and who he considers a mentor and you think he’s now going to force a trade? Lol

A very small but loud percentage of the fanbase being morons by saying he’s a “rape apologist” pissed him off but I’m sure he’s cooled off after the other 90% of Blazer fans don’t think he condones rape.

Hell, Becky Hammon was one of Kobe’s family’s great friends, she gave TV interviews after he died about how close they were and Vanessa controlled who spoke to the media in Kobe’s name, so does that mean she’s a “rape apologist” too? Kobe was actually arrested and arraigned before he settled, something Billups never experienced even after a thorough investigation by police and DA detectives. They didn’t even think they had enough evidence to take the claim to a grand jury.

Goven Portland’s history, part of me thinks this has more to do with skin color than an actual outrage, because Hammon should be held to the same standard for being so close to a “rapist.”

    https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/01/27...o-lost-a-real-advocate-becky-hammon-says.html

He watched the WNBA, and I think as he had more time on his hands in retirement, he got more involved and was just beginning to be that voice for so many women that maybe didn't have a strong voice or as big or as loud or carried as much weight as his did, and still does," Hammon said before the Spurs hosted the Chicago Bulls Monday night. "The women's game lost a real advocate and someone who truly believed that women can do anything."

"She loved it," Hammon said of Gianna's love for basketball. "You could tell. That's what so great about sports; the quality time that she got with her dad, the quality time that he invested in her, they found a common bond.

"It's a special bond; it's the father-daughter bond, and then it's this thing beyond that, which is sports, that they could connect on," she said. "The belief that he had in his daughter, the belief that he had in women's basketball – the appreciation he had for women's basketball, touched me, motivated me, inspired me."

Given the respect and connections Billups has around the league combined with Jody knowing the franchise is Lillard and she has the deepest pockets in the NBA, I don’t think there will be any issue hiring experienced and elite assistants to move to Portland.

Unless Chauncey is a complete disaster, which given the praise he has from all over the league I highly doubt, this could be a home run hire.

The Cavs fired David Blatt, who is considered one of the best coaches from overseas leagues ever, mid season when the Cavs had a 30-11 season because the players didn’t respect him. They replaced him with Ty Lue, who had respect because he played against those guys and they won a title that season.

Well, she doesn't have the deepest pockets in the NBA actually.

Aldridge was a free agent. Dame’s 4-year extension starts this season.

This comparison isn’t even apples to oranges, it’s apples to flank steak.

Interesting.... because the "LA wants out" discussion happened years before he became a free agent. In fact, it all started with reports of LMA being unhappy and possibly requesting a trade.

Maybe I missed numerous people who coached Travis and numerous players who played with him saying he’d be a great coach someday like they do for Billups, but I’m pretty sure that never happened.

She could still purchase Ford and GM with pocket change, maybe?

yeah, no not even close. Her net worth is still a lot (20 billion) but not enough to purchase GM and Ford with "pocket change". Not even close.
