I lost a few flower plants around the house outside, but i figured on that happening. What i tried to prevent and am totally bummed Bout is i put arbors and nursed a couple of grape plants back to life over the last year and they were super healthy with a bunch of grape (pods?) growing this year. 2/3 are now fried. Brown and wilted….. so bummed.
Only thing I lost in this heat was 5 lbs of unwanted weight...the windstorm here yesterday afternoon actually blew the window fan and screen out of my upstairs loft and we lost power from late afternoon for a couple of hours..my garden is loving the heat....so are my fruit trees...everything is growing like it's on steroids this season..my grapes are lush
What heat? I had to put on a sweater. I wondered why my air conditioner was working a bit more. Damn house was freezing.
im on well water with not the best pressure. Id love to set up a timer sprinkler system, but i think i need a large storage tank and pump to be installed in order to realistically water my property. Do you water often? Trying to figure out why some grapes wilted away and some stayed firm.
Wait. What? You lost your car keys? Maybe they are with my barn/lawnmower keys I lost a week or so ago!!!!
not sure how much gardening experience you have OB but in extreme heat, when you water don't get leaves wet before the sun hits them or they burn...you basically make sun tea out of them...I water before the sun hits the garden in the morning and avoide getting leafy greens wet on the surface....my grapes are never watered, they grow on the natural like blackberries
oh yeah. I water at night before going to bed. I think the grapes that wilted were in direct sunlight all day and the ones that didn't, even in the same cluster, had shade from the leaves. buuuut. Are you saying i don't even need to water the grapes at all? @BLAZINGGIANTS can you confirm this? Lol.
We dont...they are just like blackberries at my place...they grow around my chicken fence, all over my proerty and I've never watered them. I'm no expert on them though...I'll water cuttings from the vines in pots until they grow roots and then stick them in the ground...grapes over the hill from me on a large spread don't have sprinklers...there are acres of them
