I'm not sure if you have followed Chris Paul's career very closely, but that dude is 100% an injury prone head case. He's a very talented injury prone head case, but still an injury prone headcase none the less. If we want to keep Dame and make a move for a title, we have to roll the dice.
In a S&T, we would become hardcapped at around 139 million. If Kawhi starts at ~39, and we have Dame at 43, and assuming Powell at 20, we're only 37 million below that hard cap. Nurk and Covington make us 12 million below. So our starting 5 is at 127 million, Dame/Powell/Kawhi/RoCo/Nurk. But we need to fill 9 slots with 12 million dollars. Not gonna happen.
This is a pipe dream whereas my realistic suggestion of sjgning Otto Porter straight up got no response...
