Curious what people's weapons of destruction are. I regularly drink craft beers (one or two), but that's it. You?
I gave up alcohol over 4 years ago....pot I enjoy in moderation and use more and more infrequently these days...I enjoy sobriety ...I'm the family designated driver now and there's real freedom in that...
I use to smoke a lot of weed in my late teens/early twenties. Then I realized I’m completely not productive as a smoker. I drink IPA’s in the winter, domestics in the summer. mixed drinks once in awhile if I’m on a vacation like Vegas or mexico my biggest vice is chewing Kodiak regularly.
Weed has always been my crutch of choice, especially as I’ve gotten older. From about age 14 on (literally….working full time for my old man during the summers doing hot, hard, dirty work breathing dust, soot and asbestos clouds. Beer was the “solvent” to cut through all that shit) I could put away the beer like water. Got into homebrewing right about the time the craft beer revolution took off (early to mid ‘80’s) in order to be able to afford “good” beer. But as I got older and my shitty lifestyle choices caught up with me, so did the negative effects of the alcohol, gout especially. So I backed off the booze (all the meds I was on at the time helped kill my taste for it) and just smoked weed when I could find/afford it. Once it became legal I was all in. Too, legalization got my straight laced, law respecting wife off my back….and helped prices to plummet. Now that I’ve had some lifestyle and medical changes, I’m off a lot of my former meds, and beer is sounding and tasting good again. The down side it that tends to exacerbate my AFib/pacemaker if I have too many so I keep it to 2 or 3 on the rare occasions I allow myself to drink. The best part about legalization is that I can select a strain for pretty much whatever I want it to do……pain management, a good night’s sleep, productivity, etc, etc, etc. And it’s a lot cheaper than alcohol these days……all that said, I still probably smoke too much weed……..especially during the pandemic. But I’m sure the State of Oregon Department of Revenue isn’t complaining………
I have never smoked a cigarette, Weed or anything else in my life. I might have 2-3 beers a year either when out hunting or on the occasion when I get together with friends from college.
Weed daily but I'm about to take a break. Alcohol infrequently, one of the reasons I smoke weed is that without it i would drink much more. Weed mostly kills that desire. I also enjoy mushrooms once or twice a month in a very low and mellow dose.
Poll is a bit deceiving. I chose both, but the pot is a nightly thing. The booze is a once, maybe twice a week thing mostly to loosen up my throat when singing.
I often tell my Uber riders that I'm probably the worst Oregonian they'll ever meet. I don't smoke weed. I don't drink beer. I don't drink coffee. I don't hunt. I don't bike. I don't protest. I don't frequent indy shops, restaurants, or food carts. I don't do anything typically Portlandian except root for the Blazers.
I drink socially. I can't drink at home because I want to go out if I'm a bit tipsy and hit the town. No weed, but not opposed to taking a toke if in the mood. But its like once every 3 years.
While camping sitting around a campfire I'll sip on some bourbon or if its to hot for a fire, or ban happening, my wife will make a Smith & Wesson. I dont drink beer. Every once in a while I'll smoke a little pot but it gives me the blind munchies and I really try to watch what I eat.
I love fine wine but drink a lot more beer because that's what I drank in my youth. I do occasionally love a high ball.
I collect stamps, specifically Monaco. Now and then I go on a bender and knaw on a sofa leg, but then the mistress won't fill my food and water bowls. Fluffy is trying to get me into sucking lemons she finds.
I can say exactly the same thing only it took 3 1/2 weeks in intensive care for me to shed my 40 lbs. which I think inched back up to 220. My weight swings from 5 to 10 lbs. three times a week during dialysis. I go up 5 to 10 and I go down that much during each of my three weekly sessions. You people can piss but I cannot. I have to remove my fluid by hemodialysis. This means I have to watch my fluid intake or I have trouble breathing because I'm bloated.
