If CJ were to be traded, who are we most likely to get?

My guess is CJ/Nas/Future protected 1st gets it done.

I would do that deal too. In fact I'd do that deal if they wanted another future first as well.

I’ll give Olshey GM of the year if he can get Kawhi from the Clippers

Yeah my longshot trade at the deadline was CJ + Little + 2 1st round picks for Simmons. I think you can get it done for much, much less now. That said, that's my ceiling offer.

That seems like a bit much. I like him and think he would do well here and think CJ would be even better in Philly. But adding in Little plus 2 #1's is a lot.

It's definitely the absolute ceiling and honestly that ceiling has realistically dropped at LEAST one 1st round pick.

    ^^^^That is a great piece.

"And let's just be honest about the Blazers. If Olshey believes they're going to turn into a championship contender without significant roster changes just because he switched coaches, he's out of his mind. He can try to sell the story that the roster is good enough all he wants, but nobody's buying. Least of all Lillard, who can hold down the offense but is powerless to change the defense. Simmons changes everything."

    ....and later in the article,

"McCollum wouldn't be the only player available if the Sixers were to truly start shopping Simmons. But you'd be hard-pressed to find a player more perfectly suited to address the Sixers' exact needs who is within the realm of realistic targets. Win-win trades are rare, but this one has all the makings of being exactly that for both Philly and Portland. "

If we truly can get Simmons for McCollum, we gotta try and turn him into Siakam.

TOR Gets: Ben Simmons, George Hill, Matisse Thybulle, 2022 & 2025 POR 1sts
PHI Gets: C.J. McCollum, Fred VanVleet
    POR Gets: Pascal Siakam

Sign Batum to the MLE and see if you can land a good backup C on the minimum (Thies?).

    Lillard / Simons
    Powell / Simons
    Covington / Little
    Siakam / Batum
    Nurkic / Thies

    That's a contender

I'd much rather have Simmons than Siakam and it's not close also the Sixers are getting bent over the barrel. Giving up Thybulle and Simmons both would ruin that team. Also why is Portland giving Simmons PLUS TWO FIRSTS for Siakam? When this trade seems to say we can get Simmons straight across for CJ?

I forget who it was who suggested this Toronto trade, but it wasn't my idea. I wish I could take credit for it.

    PG: Lillard/Ant/Vet min PG
    SG: Powell/Ant/Elleby
    SF: Simmons/Little
    PF: RoCo/Melo on vet min
    C: Boucher/Baynes

Now THAT is a Championship team. Simmons versatility on defense will be insane and Boucher can be our stretch 5, pulling the opposing center out. You can switch Roco to C and Boucher to PF as need be. Heck you can have Simmons play Center as he did against Utah and Rudy Gobert where he put up 42-12-9. So our wings would be incredibly versatile. This trade also should placate any problems with Klutch sports and Rich Paul by delivering Nurk to a now potential contender situation in Toronto a big city with great endorsements for his client who now won't have to clog up the middle for his other clients Simmons and Billups.

Now, in Portland, Ben Simmons will always have 3-4 shooters around him and he will go absolute ham on the other team with drive and kicks. A Simmons and Lillard pick and roll will be unbelievably deadly for opposing teams with 3 shooters spread out. And if Simmons figures out how to shoot? Well, he will be our best player AND on the short list for MVP and I'm feeling confident we are WCF bound at a MINIMUM and will contend for an extra 5 years due to Simmons youth.

This trade is THE ONE. Make no mistake about it. That's why I'd even throw in Little AND an additional 1st to get it done. I wouldn't be happy about that, but I'd do it. I'd try the below of CJ and a 1st before going any higher.

I'd rather have Simmons. Then I'd trade Nurk for a stretch big and move on to winning. Simmons, Norm, RoCo and any 3 and D big with Dame is a monstrous D and has amazing potential on O.

Nurk for Boucher and Baynes was something I had said a few days ago and still think would work but I also think we could get Boucher and one of Toronto's two second rounders in this draft and that might be better considering our cap situation.

I dunno I think Baynes is an ideal backup big. At this point fuck the cap, but credit to you on the Toronto connection-trade!

I mean Boucher and a 2nd, I'm down for that. Ask them for a protected 1st and see if they bite. If not get a 2nd. You're right about cap. I just hate that stuff lol.

I'm wondering too. Are they saying that Dame = Isaiah Thomas and Simmons would be our Joe Dumars? Wasn't Joe a Shooting guard and like 6'5"? Because if they are suggesting getting Joe Dumars or Thomas anywhere NEAR our franchise they should be banned. I'm kidding, but only barely lol.

He definitely could be, I just started getting a bit funny about adding so much salary through trade but it doesn't hard cap us so yeah CJ and picks for Simmons (and even Nas if needed) and Nurk for Boucher and Baynes would be a dream come true for me. Along with re-signing Norm.

Dame, Norm, RoCo, Simmons, Boucher, Ant, DJ, Baynes and taxpayer MLE seems like a pretty fucking good rotation to me.

It sounds amazing and it sounds like it could save this franchise AND it also sounds like every piece of it is very realistic.
