Don't laugh. Or maybe laugh. Marjorie Q Anon cited as proof Covid is a bioweapon that she is a Christian and doesn't accept evolution.

No way. I can't believe anyone in a position of political power would say that.

Vaccines may curb new virus mutations; teens use soft drinks to fake positive COVID-19 tests

    By Nancy Lapid

(Reuters) - The following is a roundup of some of the latest scientific studies on the novel coronavirus and efforts to find treatments and vaccines for COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus.

COVID-19 vaccines may be curbing new virus mutations

Along with preventing illness and deaths, COVID-19 vaccines may also be curbing the "rampant evolution" of the new coronavirus by limiting new mutations that allow it to evade antibodies, researchers believe. As part of a larger study, they closely analyzed gene sequences in virus samples obtained from 30 COVID-19 patients who had not been vaccinated and 23 vaccinated individuals with so-called breakthrough cases of COVID-19. In particular, they looked at genes associated with the spike the virus uses to break into cells. The spikes are targeted by the antibodies unleashed by current treatments and vaccines. The more the spike mutates, or changes, the less likely the antibodies will be fully effective. Compared to virus samples from unvaccinated patients, samples from vaccine breakthrough patients showed significantly fewer mutations on the spike, researchers from data analytics company nference reported on Monday on medRxiv ahead of peer review. The more people get infected, the more opportunities the virus has to mutate as it makes copies of itself inside the body. It is possible that by suppressing the number of copies made in vaccinated people, the chances to mutate are reduced as well, the authors suggest. "This study presents the first known evidence that COVID-19 vaccines are fundamentally restricting the ... escape pathways accessible to SARS-CoV-2," they concluded. (https://bit.ly/36h6e7l)

Americans will need masks indoors as U.S. heads for 'dangerous fall' with surge in delta Covid case

    KEY POINTS

      • Already the dominant variant in the U.S., delta will hit the states with the lowest vaccination rates the hardest this fall.
      • Authorities in Australia, South Africa and Asia have recently reintroduced curfews or other measures to curb rising delta outbreaks.
      • High vaccination rates in the U.S. and the warm summer months have bought the country some extra time, but outbreaks across the world are giving Americans a preview of what may come this fall.

Translation: Trying to crash the economy, destroy people’s livelihoods and perpetrate the largest upward wealth transfer in human history didn’t work as well as we’d like the first time so we’re going to try it again with a catchier name, despite the fact covid cases are the lowest they’ve been since the start of the pandemic.

Enjoy your masks indoors and the Applebee’s where the mom and pop restaurant used to be. We’ll throw in some inflation, high fuel prices and food shortages to make it more exciting.

We must sacrifice our lives to covid to defeat Applebee's! Only thus can we be truly free!

When I imagine people typing away about corporate profits killing off mom and pop shops while filling up at the Shell station and getting a carton of Marlboro reds it gives me a chuckle....people have such selective outrage....Applebee's ...bad.....Budweiser beer a necessary evil !

How do you expect mom and pop to get to work without gas? I’m not a defender of big oil or other monopolies’ strangleholds but we’re all bullied into a system where we have to support industries we’d ideally rather not from time to time to survive. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to call that out or talk shit about those companies, they are doing just fine. We’re all trying to get by in a system that wasn’t designed for us to thrive in.

And beer IS a necessary evil, solid point there.

Fox and other right wing media are having major freakout over Heineken commercial showing old folks dancing and drinking beer, having fun again because they got vaccinated. Oh the horror!

Hey, I went to a movie for the first time in over a year.

Lucia got upset. She isn't used to me being out in the evening.

    I couldn't stand Applebee's. Didn't like their food, didn't like their loud music. It's a teenager's dream come true.

Budweiser got bought out years ago and their recipe changed. They now use some cheaper ingredients. Also, no more excellent Busch beer. I was once addicted to Bud but they cured me of that. Also, no more beer gardens nor hospitality rooms nor Clydesdales.

A lot of Bend locals were pretty upset when 10 Barrel so-called "sold out" to Anheuser Busch a number of years ago (for nearly $20M !!). They were somewhat pacified, though, finding out that the brewery's brick n' mortar location would remain in town. But, only for a couple of more years??

It's a fun place! Been there many times. Not quite like the firepits @ McMenamins, but fun nonetheless.

I don't read anything about Budweiser being bought out, though...

This is such a stupid post.

Mom and Pops don't sell Budweiser or other name brands in their stores?
