https://www.yahoo.com/sports/mlb-4-...s-style-shooting-all-star-game-142034642.html A hotel employee tipped off police and three men and a woman were arrested in Denver after 16 long guns and 1000 rounds of ammunition were found in their room which overlooked the downtown area. One of the men had just got divorced and had posted on social media he was going out in a big way. The MLB all star game is this Tuesday and police feared they were going to carry out a mass shooting when the crowds showed up for the game.
I am torn. Sure it is a good thing that people didn't die. But, either way: Our government isn't doing anything at all about America's gun problem, expect for feeding it by keeping everyone scared of... everyone else.
The majority of our govt is pro gun so that's always going to be the case with the elected officials we have now
I wonder when democrats stopping being peace loving people. Oh yeah, at Bill Clinton. People care, or they don't. Our U.S. congress clearly shows that they don't care, at all.
This is kind of a mind-f***. If this goes down with MLB’s ASG, does this gather the attention and finally highlight our gun issues (probably not)? Would these guys actually hinder the gun rights movement they are seeking to protect? But instead, with being caught, the story is now likely a blip on the radar and no real cause for concern. What’s it going to take to admit we have a gun issue? We’re already past the point of no return.
So what you seem to be saying is: There is nothing that we can do about anything at all because no matter who we vote for, they don't care. Edit: More like. "We didn't start the fire, so we might as well sit back and watch it burn". Doing nothing keeps us right where America is stuck now.
Or if the media would stop immortalizing these morons, they wouldn't have a reason to "go out in a big way." There's a reason why the media doesn't report on suicides.
If we could do what other countries have done like Australia, etc...we'd have done it by now...everytime there's a mass shooting they have a big jump in sales ...it's just so much money that in some ways it would be as difficult as deciding to disband the armed forces and become a neutral country....this country is way too aggressive to pull off any anti gun legislation...americans are in love with guns....not me or you but a whole lot of them won't give them up...when we stop seeing them on tv or in toy stores we'll be starting to change...as it is toy weapons are introduced at a really young age whether it's sword, gun or light sabre...we get the kids fighting young...I wouldn't allow my son to have toy guns as a child..first thing he did after college was buy a gun. That taught me something.about my approach that didn't stick..
No. Our government is run by boot licking cowards who refuse to listen to Americans. Every poll shows that Americans want reasonable gun control, that includes republicans. Yet, you can't get a damn bill through congress. Because, they literally don't care. They are too beholden to their corporate donors to care. (This actually goes for most every bill Americans want passed. They won't listen unless your bank account is in the billions, or a natural disaster forces them to look our direction)
Almost every mass shooting ends with a suicide so I'd say the media reports suicides...Robin Williams was all over the news when he hung himself
People love to throw around terms like "common sense gun control" and "reasonable gun control." What exactly does that mean?
I don't trust any polls....but I want gun control and I don't think most republicans want gun control either but money is the greedy bastard that gets votes
I don't see how you can trust anything at all then. But we all must trust something. All of our information that we all trust, comes from somewhere. And when my information comes from our countries very own most trusted polls, it seems reasonable to believe them. What I don't trust, are most people. They are way too biased towards their own party to be believed in the first place. (Edit: Sorry, not trying to imply anything against you personally here. My posts can be a bit blunt in my truth telling though. That is just the way I am.)
agreed. it’s a complete shit show. for the record, I don’t own a gun, never have. but I’m damn thinking about having one now. and therein lies a big piece of the problem…
