We have to finagle the #3 pick in any deal with Cleveland and draft the Chauncey Billups clone — SUGGS :bored:

Doesn't make a lot of sense. He's short, so that's not a good fit for the backcourt, and it doesn't appear that his defense is any good.

I doubt he'd come off the bench either.

At first I thought this would be a CJ deal. But the follow up tweet suggests it's a contingency plan if they trade Lillard. That would mean the team is interested in at least fielding offers for Dame for the first time since Dame was drafted. Whether we can win with Dame as the #1 option on a supermax is definitely a question they should explore. Still, it can't feel good to hear that as a Blazers fan.

It's tough because the internet is a place where any goof can make up anything they want.

With that said, Dame simply has not come out and flatly denied anything, and that's not good. Honestly, I don't think Neil can build a contender around Dame. Not on the level that supposedly would make him happy. So if that's the case, you trade Dame. You trade CJ. You trade Nurk. You start over.

I don’t think we’re going the rebuild route.

But if we did, why would upper management trust Neil with that process? If a rebuild is to happen Neil should be the starting point before we blow it up

It makes "Anything I have to say I'm going to say directly to Neil." feel a little more ominous. That conversation could have been as simple as Dame telling him if the team can't contend next season that he wants to be moved to a team that can.

Why the fuck does upper management trust Neil to run the team at all at this point? If they're still rolling with Neil, then he's got them convinced that he's good at his job and if he's got them sold on that, why wouldn't they trust him with a total rebuild?

I would hope, if it was between Neil and Damian, they'd go with Damian 10 times out of 10.

I like the CJ and Covington for Love, Nance Jr and #3. Hell, I’d even throw in the 2nd round pick.

I would also do this deal but I don't think they're taking CJ if they've got Sexton and Garland but who knows. I also don't know if that deal gets us closer to contending and therefore makes Dame happy.

The third pick this year could be - and probably is - a franchise player. Why on earth would Cleveland do that?
