Hell, Barrett can play the three just fine, Simmons can play the four, we can re-sign Norm and use the taxpayer MLE on Bobby Portis and that starting lineup along with what we'd have on the bench would be instant contenders. One problem is that there's no way IMO the Knicks have a lot of value on Nurk when they have Mitchell Robinson.
im having an issue with this thread for that reason too. I tired to participate but then recall had badly my dame for harden trade worked out. Screw this, im not putting my mental stress into this. They should just run the NBA like a fantasy league. Put all the players back into a pool at the beginning of each season and re-draft. How much more interesting would the league be?
Neil needed to be fired in 2016! That doesn't seem to matter to Seattle. Now if Neil can frame trading Dame as some sort of master plan to get the team to the next level in the next 3-4 years, he'll probably be able to sell that to the people he's been conning for the better part of a decade. If Dame goes to them at the end of this season and says that he gave Neil a chance and Neil failed so now Dame wants out... then Neil will be fired.
Another possibility is to do a 3-way with the Knicks and Pelicans where we get Zion, who doesn't want to be there (but will he want to be in Portland tho). If I'm trading Dame, I'm only looking to trade for top 3 draft picks within the last 5 years. That Wiggins/Wisemen is intriguing to me, if we can stack that with more young assets. Trade CJ, Roco and Nurk for more young assets too. Keep Simons.
I don’t think it needs to be blown up even if you trade Dame. You have a relatively decent nucleus. Trading dame for someone like Barrett (NY) and draft picks then hope you get lucky on some draft picks. Need to optimize those draft picks, got to be lottery picks. That might mean getting third team involved and more assets
Dame for RJ Barrett and draft picks the Knicks have is not even close to what we can get for him. Also I'm not down and I don't think the fan base is cool with taking a far lesser player for Dame, some picks that will be virtually second rounders and rolling with what we currently have. What we currently with Dame is not good enough. If Dame goes, it will be for a lot more than you're suggesting and we will need this team blown up.

i like that! Hard cap every team every year and they are allowed to spend how they want, all one year contracts. Players can bet on themselves by denying the draft and accompanied contract offer by going back in the pool in hopes of being drafted later but for more money. It might make the draft more interesting than the games themselves though!
