Nice overview.

Once again a game vs a tough opponent and not an easy win. While the result of the game (especially if team US loses the game) should not be overestimated I think team US is not ‘allowed’ to lose an other game in case of reputation/trust in the team. Otherwise people may become feared if team US plays against a nation like Germany…

Seriously? So is the team still doing the same things they did during the season with respect to isolation and daily routines? Seems like most of the country has decided to open back up? Most players were vaccinated weren't they?

 

Yeah, I think the problem is that USA basketball and more importantly the Olympic village in Japan has probably got some pretty strict contact tracing rules. So while the players are free to move about as they please right now if they come into contact with someone infected then they're probably shelved until they show to be not infected. Vegas is one of the five hotbeds in the U.S. for COVID right now.

So while Beal probably is vaccinated and according to something I read will be out of the protocol pretty quickly, if he was found to be near a positive case and they found it through contact tracing then the smart thing would be to quarantine him from the rest of the team because there are "breakthrough" cases where a fully vaccinated person gets COVID. I think the three vaccines only claim to be effective in the mid 90% area.

 

Looks like this game will be cancelled. Hopefully they can add a player ASAP! Windy said they were looking for a player who's in shape. Damn. Figured most would try to stay in shape, and already be honing their skills for next season after a week or two vacation. I guess some players just check out after the season is over.

Chris is likely going to have the “honor” of having made the game thread for a game that gets canceled. I’m not sure whether that makes him better or worse than @THE HCP.
