Signing Goodrow for a few years would be a solid move for sure. Good luck to Howden out West. It'll be interesting to see who our Seattle selection turns out to be now. Guess it will be one of Blackwell, Gauthier, Bitetto or Kinkaid.

I’m thinking they are not protecting Rooney so he might be taken.

The Rangers really threaded the needle with the expansion draft and arrival of their young talented players who are exempt...incredible! They don't have to risk losing any of their top talent players or up and coming stars. If the expansion draft were even next season instead of this year the Rangers wouldn't have been able to protect everyone.

I hope they re-sign Goodrow, he is a kind of player they need in the bottom 6 IMO.

Though to be honest I can see a fourth line of

    Goodrow-Richards-Rooney

They'll definately keep Blackwell over Rooney I'd think. Maybe a line of Goodrow/Richards or Barron/Blackwell.

If it comes down to Rooney vs Blackwell, yeah 100% protect Blackwell.

Lots of trades in the league today....Ryan Ellis to the Flyers, Nolan Patrick to Vegas.

Blackwell is small and is a career minor leaguer. It's pretty sad our fan base is sucking him off. You want toughness, size, faceoff ability out of your 4th line. not Blackwell.

Nothing to do with sucking him off, just being real. He is going to be protected we think. Is what it is. He's a bottom 6 forward, one that if we lost that's fine, and if he's here that's fine also. Doesn't move the needle either way.

I always liked Goodrow and he is a tough player who can play center and wing. I think he, like Coleman, make the biggest difference on Stanley Cup caliber teams like the Lightning. Hopefully he can be signed at the right price

Sounds like we are closing in on a deal with him, could be for 6 years maybe $3M per +/-. He is one of the best PK guys in the league, can win FO's (50% this past season on over 300 FO's), and he has size. The perfect bottom 6 versatile guy we needed. Great start.

Wow 6y, but i guess he's only 28 so it seals up a spot for us for awhile.

6 years is a long time at 28 years old for a bottom 6 player.

I would prefer 4 years, but if we have to go 5 or 6 I'll live if the AAV is $3M. If the AAV goes up closer to $3.5M and it's 5 or 6 years I will not be happy. But if you said 6/18, I would be okay (would take him through his 33-34 year old season which is still prime). Plus we'll front load it, so if we had to buy him out after 4 it wouldn't be very punitive IMO.

I rather go 6 years with a $3M AAV than 4 years with a $4.2M AAV in a flat cap situation the next 2 years.

Hopefully Buchnevich is gone next. I heard Dvorak is out there again. I always thought he would be a steal once you got him away from that mickey mouse organization.
