Sounds like Dame is basically giving Olshey an ultimatum.....but it may be too late. There isn't a lot to work with, no Draft picks this year for capital, he doesn't have a single significant contributor from the Draft since 2013 (that is downright brutal), and the cap situation of his own doing is going to make it much more difficult to make moves. He had one of the highest payrolls in the league at one point and nothing to show for it.

GS is/was in Cap hell.....but it was certainly worth it. Portland is in cap hell while being irrelevant.

I have a theory that we have been cursed as a franchise. We were blessed with Dame, but the catch was that his fate and that of Olshey are inextricably linked, so that we have Olshey as long as we have Dame and vice-versa.

If that was true, would you trade Dame? Or never fire Olshey?

I don't think you get to double-dip. Your contract is voided as soon as you're hired by another franchise (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Historically - and maybe this has changed but this is how it used to be - in order to encourage people to go get another job, you would still get paid the previous contract but about half, plus your full new salary. At least this is what a former GM in GS had happen.

That's true for player contracts. I'm not sure that still applies for coaches/executives.

you can, this has been referenced this year.

Carlisle currently is getting paid by both Dallas and Indy.

This is my understanding as well. All contracts are on an individual basis, but I believe the basic practice is that Coaches/GM's can get paid by both teams.

Different sport, but I know Chip Kelly was getting paid by the Eagles, 49ers, and UCLA at the same time.

I'd be willing to get fired a time or two if that was the result!

The more I think about it the more I can’t stand Olshey. His approach as a GM has been awful. Think about some of the big signings he wanted to make that ended up not happening Hibbert, Parsons etc. pissing away lillards prime. Ugh

I fault ownership for not intervening way sooner.
Jody needs to step up and address what her thinking is where the team is at. She & Bert owe it to Dame and the Fans.

But does Jody even know anything about basketball? Or is this just her pet project she inherited from her brother? When Paul was alive I never remember her at any games.

It really is best NOT to think about it.
