You have to overpay to make them consider it. I think they would consider it if you gave them a good enough offer.

I think the idea with a three way trade with the Knicks is that the picks and prospects coming back from the Knicks would fit the age of the vast majority of the Pistons' roster including whoever comes in with the number one pick. Obviously there could most definitely be validity to what you just posted.

Because he doesn’t necessarily fit their timeline. They just got the #1 pick. That’s who they are going to build around

They're in no hurry. You don't make your entire roster the same age in the rookie year of your #1 pick. Plus he's really close with their GM. It ain't happening.

That's a tough one. Siakam of two years ago; for sure. But he has been trending down and you have the injury concern. Of course Detroit is putting out the word that Grant is not available. Just trying to pump up the price?

Since when is "close with GM" a reason not to get traded (Unless you're Olshey)? Troy Weaver gave him that deal to let him prove he shoulder a greater load for a team offensively. He proved he was worth that contract, but the Pistons are not in a position to win now. It could be a win-win situation for Weaver to send him somewhere that Grant can win (and wants to go), while receiving a good return on investment for a contract that many people thought was an overpay at the time.

I'm not saying it will happen, but I think that scenario is a hell of a lot more likely than some of the other ideas out there. But you also seem to think that no trades will happen.

min not saying it’s going to happen. I think it makes more sense then you’re leading on. If you could get someone like simons and more picks.. in my opinion, that’s a no brained for them. Include DJ (if he ops in) abd you have 10 mil in expiring right there. There’s no need for them to be paying him 20 mil a year right now

Tough call. Siakam even in a down year is more impactful than Grant, but also costs more and has the injury concerns. Grant is the safer play; Siakam is the higher-reward option. All depends on risk-tolerance, I guess.

The second slide — that is exactly my dream trade.

    Replace CJ2 with Little though.

I mean, i would love that trade but why does Indy want to move Sabonis? He is amazing and young.

You like Elleby more than Little? Or you think Indiana wants more value?

The Giles S&T is stupid though, no need for Indy to hardcap themselves with Giles when they can just sign him outright.

So in addition to CJ, we’d have to give up Nas and 2 extra picks? That’s quite a lot for a guy that doesn’t fill an immediate need (with Nurk being here).
Not saying I’d pass on Sabonis completely, but how much would Nurkic bring back in a trade? CJ is the piece (plus picks) that can bring in a quality 3/4 to start alongside Covington. What kind of 3/4 can you expect to bring in if we send Nurk out? Are we going to have to add more picks on top of Nurkic to bring a guy like that in? Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me to do a Sabonis trade if we are giving up so much.

If you wanna trade McCollum, you first gotta find what teams would theoretically have a need for him and then work from there.

Some of the ones that stand out to me are

    76ers
    Magic
    Cavs
    Pelicans
    Heat

All those teams either need spacing/shooting or got shitty production from their guards last season.

And said teams would also have to be expecting to compete next year. You don't trade for CJ if you think you're going to remain a lottery team thereafter. IMO, that eliminates Cleveland and Orlando.

Not sure Orlando is in the rebuilding phase anymore. I think they probably expect to compete, or at least take a jump, next season.

They dealt Vuc, Gordon and Fournier. Only real vets they have are Terrence Ross and Gary Harris. They spent the end of last season starting Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter, and Chuma Okeke. 23-yo Jonathan Isaac is one of the elder statesmen on that squad. And they have the #5 pick this year. If they're not looking at next year as a building year, they're even more mismanaged than the Blazers.

I love adding sabonis, but that's one where I really need to know what the follow up moves are, because we spend a lot of assets to fill a position not of need.

I see them in a similar boat to the Hawks. They have good young talent and just need a couple impactful vets to help them take the next step.

I still think the Knicks would be very interested in him.

Team USA has had 2 nonshooters on the floor at the same time, and did quite well against Spain, the #2 team.
