Bert is her conduit and to all things blazers and At some point she should address her thoughts on the team. Its not unusual however for centralized corporations with subsidiaries to insulate CEO’s from public statements.

It's really funny how the narrative changes. Just like 9 months ago, there was nearly universal praise for Olshey's ability to put a roster together that addressed nearly every weakness the previous year's team had.

Except for coaching... and for a short backcourt that can't defend

Some people were cautious in jumping to the conclusion that role players (including a below average MLE signing) were enough to make us a contending team.

Personally, I don't think guys like CJ are trash, but he should be a 4th-6th man on a contending team, not a #2.

2017 was the lynchpin. Collins bust is extremely painful considering who you could have drafted instead at 10 or at 15 and 20. Here's to hoping Olshey can pull multiple rabbits outta multiple hats!

The funniest part of this is that this deal was an accident. Olshey was prepared to trade Plumlee for Jahlil Okafor before Denver panicked and threw in the 1st.

The best trade Olshey has made here: an accident.

    "universal praise"...?

not really....and that roster proved it's worth in the series against Denver....meaning, if there were high expectations last fall, they were half-baked or wrong

I don’t remember that we were going to trade for Okafor. I do however remember us wanting to throw absurd amounts of money in Free Agency at Chandler Parsons and Roy Hibbert. They ultimately chose to go elsewhere and both never really did much of anything after that and were out of the league shortly after.

I also remember him getting so excited during a press conference announcing that we signed Evan Turner who he claimed was a bargain.

I have no faith in Olshey putting a good team around Lillard. I mean I liked the Powell trade but were most likely going to lose him for nothing it seems. And I think that’s a fireable offense that will setback the team and might want Lillard to want out. I could see the off-season crumbling if that happens.

But thanks for the reminder on Parsons and Hibbert. Also Hawes and Greg Monroe. Quite a statement when the deals you don't make are somehow even worse than the ones you did make. Yikes.

This is why I don't like twitter. What the fuck is he talking about? It's like if I created a thread on here without any context. People would be asking what the hell I'm talking about.

he’s not wrong but it’s always annoyed me how open he’s been about Portland not being a “destination”

It’s like if you don’t believe in it, who will? There are a lot of good things about Portland he could use to sell players on, privacy and relaxed media being near the top.

That's true, how can you sell a product if you don't believe in the product?

he's been claiming problems in the market since day 1. instead of selling the positives ( DAME, ownership w/ deep pockets, rabid fanbase that won't stand for losing, strong bball culture, coach that allows anyone and everyone to shoot, etc etc), he chose to characterize it as a negative.

I used to get only slightly annoyed by it when he used to parrot this statement at every PC, but it bugs me more today for some reason.
