Dang, maybe we should trade Dame and build around CJ then!

It's obviously the stat that Olshey is going by as he shoots down all these offers for CJ...

Thing about CJ: I think players like him are more valuable in the playoffs. That's when you see people like Trae Young and Donovan Mitchell and Jamal Murray really go off, because you absolutely have to have a great shooter who can get his shot from anywhere. I think that's why the vast majority of Philly fans would've jumped at a Simmons-CJ swap the day after Philly crashed out of the playoffs.

Having said that, he wasn't particularly valuable to us, this playoffs...

Yeah CJ is so inconsistent. And it doesn’t help that his defense is bad. Regardless he still have incredible numbers when he’s not playing with dame. He has a point guard mentality when dame is not playing. This is the side of CJ that every teams should know that they’re trading for

for his career, he's been worse in the playoffs than he has been in the regular season (common), and he hasn't really set the world on fire in the regular season

I want CJ traded so I'd like his value to be high enough to be attractive to a lot of teams. I doubt it is though. And if front offices have his value pegged at the same level as opposing coaching staffs, than the value won't be as high as we hope. Otherwise, teams would not be doubling and trapping Dame all over the floor leaving CJ in standard single coverage. That's a pretty good gauge of his value IMO

Washington couldn't play Simmons with Westbrook (SOMEBODY'S got to be able to shoot), so...

(Yeah, this favors us, obvs., but maybe throw Tyrese Maxey and/or Ant/Nas to Wiz instead of DJJ)

I would love that and would throw in future picks if necessary.

Great trade makes sense for all teams. It's a great basic structure and yes I add the necessary grease for the wheels of this trade in the form of picks and/or Nas/Ant.

I think somebody said this already, but yeh, why are there not even rumors out there about this team or that team wanting CJ?

when is there ever? Just using the most recent example, was there one report about Roco to Portland before it happened?

Well, if it were Nas included instead of DJJ, they'd do it to get a 2-guard who isn't publicly desiring an exit without massively downgrading, and to add another young wing.

i would think if washington trades Beal, the smart thing would be exactly what we would do if Dame leaves in a trade : tear down completely.

CJ does not fit into that at all.

They're stuck with Westbrook for two more years, and have Bryant coming back, and expect significant growth from Hachimura and Avdija. I'm sure if they replaced Beal with CJ, they'd expect to be able to compete.

Maybe CJ should demand a trade?

They're stuck with WestBrick's crazy contract for a while. Mine as well compete.

A lot of choices at #9 - maybe take Duarte or reach for a sure-fire contributor in Garuba.

The kings want to get better NOW and are also rumored to be trading Buddy to the Lakers. Let's nip that in the bud. (Plus they are one of the teams that the Blazers supposedly "beat out" in signing Jones, suggesting that they might actually see him as more than a throw-in.)

I think this trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. Granted it leaves the Blazers without a clear #2 player (and might piss Dame off for that reason) but it also really strengthens the squad and gives us a shot at a really good young player. Meanwhile the Kings avoid fucking up yet another draft. But they'd better hurry...
