Obviously a small sample size?!? That's what you have to say for that. That's three games for Dame... so yeah we can't judge off of that sample size and I do think that @wizenheimer had a good point with the free throw shooting comparison. That being said, I'd love for Nurk to prove that he can hit 2 threes a game at 40%.

marc gasol was 31 yo when he started shooting 3-pointers a lot

prior to that, the most 3-pointers he took in the season was 17

on that small sample size, nurk was better 3-pointer shooter than gasol

Let's hope man... because I hope that we land Simmons in a CJ trade and it would be great if Nurk could hit a couple of threes per game so him and Simmons make sense together.

nurk played 37 games (and took 30 threes) last season and if he played like 70+ games, he probably wouldve shoot 50+ threes, so it only makes sense that he keeps shooting threes and on bigger sample size

by that logic, nurk should shoot over 100 threes next season, but who knows if billups will want nurk to shoot threes

bigger sample size is the only way to know if he can shoot 33% or better from 3-point land

    ok....let's deal with that then

from what I've read, Simmons and Embiid had issues because Embiid was 'clogging' the lane for Simmons, reducing the primary options Simmons uses for engaging teammates. Simmons and Embiid apparently were stepping on each other's toes to much. I don't know if that was the real issue but I've certainly read that in a lot of places

if true, there is this: Embiid's average shot distance was 11.8'. Meanwhile, the average shot distance for Nurkic was 5.7'. In other words, Embiid's offense came at an average distance that was more than twice as far from the hoop as Nurkic's.

Obviously, Nurkic can adjust his offensive game, especially under new coaching. But, if the problem between Simmons and Embiid was where they operate, I have a really hard time seeing Simmons and Nurkic developing any synergy, even if Nurkic shoots 3 three's a game.

Could be but it does not make sense to me. I am guessing that their personalities were the bigger factor. Looking in from the outside with no knowledge of the situation at all.....both Embiid and Simmons might not be able to coexist because of their prima donna personalities. I doubt Embiid's trash-talking is only reserved for opponents. He wears his emotions on his sleeve and his facial expressions are easy to read. Simmons on the other hand seems to be overly sensitive. (Think LMA) At this part of Dame's career, I bet he would be perfect for Simmons.

As far as Nurk......they could work. But I would love to see a version of the triangle offense with Dame, NP, and Simmons dominating the touches with two very good 3 pt shooters spreading the floor. That might mean trading Nurk for a better 3 pt shooting center

In order to have any kind of impact we need him making a three a game so he better be putting up around 240 threes in the season, assuming he stays healthy which is assuming a lot.

Nurk often doesn't play heavy minutes. I would also work to always have Simmons on the floor when Nurk is not on the floor. Simmons is young so you can play him for nearly unlimited minutes. I think Simmons being traded is just the wake-up call he will need and we can surround him with 3pt shooters. That said, I'm totally fine with trading Nurk for a PF/C who can hit the three if we do indeed land Simmons.

I can’t compare Gasol and Nurk because of their brains. Nurk could be way better than Gasol and that is saying a LOT. But he won’t be.

Wait a second here. Marc Gasol was 8 years in the league before really starting to excel. Nurk is 8 years with two lost to injury. Nurk with a new coach and a better system might surprise.

exactly, he entered the league when he was 23 yo and took a leap when he was 31 yo, in his 9th season

nurk will turn 27 yo next month, he should be entering his prime now, just with the new coach, who very well could be a right one for nurk

nurk has basically lost three seasons to injuries (after rookie season had knee surgery and played 32 games following season when he came back and then lost almost entire season with portland after he broke his leg and then last season broke his wrist and missed half of the season)... i also remember ankle injury while with denver and other leg break with portland... its a shame, injuries really prevented him from becoming an all-star level player, but im hopeful he can still become one

Nurk has some potential and hopefully he is able to show it know in the new situation. Especially if Simmons will be in the roster he has to shoot threes and adopt his game (something he can do in my view).
And it is really a shame that people are stopped by injuries as it also affects the team's successes (of course the players suffer the most).

So he started pretty young as well.
I think Gasol went to High School and College here and then went to Spain to play first?
