So I'm thinking of selling my old 97 Jeep Wrangler. It needs a lot of work, but I don't have the time or money to fix it up. The paint needs to be redone. It has a dent by the tail light. Basically it needs a lot of work. How the heck do I come up with a fair price? I have heard the market is nuts right now. It runs. It's a hard top. Has running boards. Manual transmission. Kelley BB isn't very helpful honestly.
Inline 6 motor? Jeeps are kind of a specialty item, blue book won’t accurately reflect what a Jeep person looking for a project will pay. I’d get on some Jeep forums and ask around, you might even find a buyer right there. I’m a Toyota loser so not real hip on the Jeep market, but I did see an ‘03 Tacoma identical to mine listed for 25k. Fucking crazy. The used car market is beyond stupid right now.
Park it on the street with the key in the ignition. Your insurance company will tell you what it was worth.
What do you want for it, and then what it is "worth". Somewhere between that number you'll find the "just fucking take it away from me" amount.
Put it on Craigslist for your price- what you’d love to get. If no one responds you’re too high. If you get emails - just be able to distinguish what’s real and what’s bullshit- you are priced right. I’ve sold several cars this way.
