I think it means don't make a non -basketball change of direction for the sole purpose of flopping after initiating contact with a defender.

Yeah, suddenly jumping into someone to the side of you or who is not in your direct path to draw a foul.

So, is the side-to-side swipe an offensive foul or a no-call?

This would be something like that sliding left or right to get contact on a three. Dame is gonna have to start just shooting the ball to make the shot rather than try to get the foul.
Tiresome how much it happens all over the league. Lillard included.
I liken it to soccer and the flopping. The problem is every once in a while it works and they get a penalty kick which can change a game dramatically in soccer. Less so in Basketball but obviously if you get a call on a three it can make a difference.

Hoping that becomes a no call. Dudes literally swinging their arms at the defenders hands to get a foul call. Needs to stop.

Yeah, it needs to be included in that discussion. My vote is a no-call. I hate when they get rewarded for doing it. I hate it, even more, when Dame tries it
and shoots it thinking he will get the call....and doesn't.

Dame does. He practices making the shot with the “foul.” He makes those double clutches.

You know when Chris Paul dribbles in front of or stops in front of a player running back on defense? That’s what they are talking about

I would like to see the percentage that he actually makes. 1 out of 20? out of 30? Never actually gets the call. Nearly always they say the foul is on the floor. Spends half the game complaining about a no call.
It's not just Dame either. It's pretty much every player on the court in the NBA anymore.
Have you noticed the international game?

He needs to be going for the shot anyway. If he does get the call it's always on the dammed floor mostly anyway.

I expect today to be quiet unless both GMs feel they need to make a trade to open a path to another trade or that it won’t be available once the big trades happen tomorrow and they both fear getting outbid. That said the anticipation and excitement is starting to get to me.

Lots of big trades went down before the draft last year. I was hoping it would be the same this year but so far it's not looking to be the case.

Yes, it seems like more stars will be moved this year. There are also a lot of pipedreams about things such as Dame being traded. All of this, plus some teams needing to wait until draft night to have draft capital available for trade (e.g. Blazers) is why I say this. Too many very large moving parts which create more complex trades and complex offers. We shall see, I'd say it favors the Blazers for fewer trades to happen today.

refresh my memory, what moves with big $ players (> 25 mil) were made before the draft last yeari thought most of the stuff was for role players

If I’m the Blazers I seriously consider the trade of CJ for 4th pick. Barnes, Suggs, Mobley and Cade I’d take any of the four. Barnes and Suggs would be my top choices

I think Barnes would fit in nicely but he probably won’t move the needle enough for Dame.
