    Resign Powell to 4y/80m.

Trade CJ for Lonzo with sign and trade and also get back pick 17. That saves us around 10M if we consider Lonzo will get around 20M. Maybe get an extra asset too.
I think Lonzo is better as a wing and he has the size to play the 3. Great secondary playmaker, great defender and very improved shooter.

I don't think that Toronto would be interested in CJ at all. I think if we were somehow to attain Siakam we would need a third team that did need the skills CJ brings. They would trade the Raptors most of what they'd need to give up Siakam and we would have to come up with the rest. I think if we acquire Grant from Detroit it will also take a third team. Getting Simmons wouldn't take a third team but it would take a lot of what you were calling stuff.

Interesting thought playing Lonzo at the 3. If he bulked up a bit more, he’d certainly be big enough to bother a lot of elite 3’s outside of the Lebrons/KDs/Giannises of the world. Good spot up shooter these days I’ve heard. I also like that he doesn’t demand the ball but can still playmake for others. I guess it would be a lot like what Batum was for us.
But imo $20m/yr for Ball is rich. If he is going to play the Batum role, I’d just rather us get Batum for the tax MLE. I haven’t watched much of Ball outside of maybe 10-15 games in the last 2 years so unless I actually start watching a bunch of Lonzo tape, someone would REALLY have to convince me that Lonzo has gotten exponentially better on defense. Never had a problem with his defense, I knew given his size he could certainly defend at least at an above average level. But he’s been guarding guards—I wonder how he would fair guarding guys potentially 2-3 inches taller than him for 30 minutes a night.
But having Ball would immediately fill a need of a starting SF and backup PG though. It’ll be Anfernee’s time to shine off the bench, I can see Lonzo really accelerate Anfernee’s development/confidence, but also his trade value if a big time trade for a star can happen. Anfernee and Nassir’s development will really dictate Dame’s decision.
I had planned on replying to your comment with “but $20m/yr is rich” but when I had to come up with reasons for “but”, I guess I talked myself into it more. But I would hope we get #17 + future protected 1st. I’ve always felt like Lonzo would be leaving and NOLA unless they overpaid for him and they probably are unwilling to do so though.
    Turning Bledsoe and Adams’s contracts + 2 1sts + 1 2nd into CJ/Valanciunas is a a pretty good haul.
Gonna be watching Lonzo tapes tmr to see if this would ever be a good idea. Props to you lol.

Imo, unless the offer reasonable I wait to trade CJ if thats the plan. If he plays great at the start of the season we wont have a disadvantage/ must trade now we have currently. You cant give him away for the sake of just making a move and Imo, Dame would agree. If however a decent offer is made that can help move the needle, sure.

With the Buddy Hield trade, can we try to pry Barnes from Sacramento?

Zach needs to be a S&T. Should be fine for Sactown to get hardcapped. Not having matching salaries suck.

Gross. Also it looks like the Hield trade is getting shelved in deference to the Wiz and Westbrick.

I see a lot of three way proposals with philly and Toronto, but are we sure that Toronto wouldn’t be interested in McCollum (and possibly picks) for Siakam? Especially if they lose Lowry. We’ve seen how well McCollum plays when Dame is out. He always elevates his game as the primary playmaker.

    PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS

Speaking of Lillard, the Blazers have their own trade stuff to sort through. Their superstar wants help, and Siakam certainly could fit as a second option.

The easy piece to send out from the Blazers' side would be CJ McCollum, a bonafide three-level scorer who probably profiles a little better as a number-one option than Siakam does. The issue: factoring in defense (and age, for that matter), McCollum is not more valuable than Siakam is.

The Blazers would need to throw in more, and that's where it gets a little tough. Aside from this year's draft, the Blazers have all of their first-round picks moving forward. Two of them plus a swap could intrigue the Raptors.

Would two of the Anfernee Simons/Nassir Little/Derrick Jones Jr. triumvirate be enough? Would the Blazers even be willing to include Simons at all if they're giving up McCollum and pick capital? It's a tough needle to thread, but it would behoove the Blazers to at least try to thread it.

We need to get rid of CJ in any deal. Because that back court of Lillard and CJ will never be contenders. Trade CJ, slide Powell over the 2 and find another solid star/borderline star. Get a proven back up PG and hope that Simons/Little make a leap.

Would Toronto want an epically small back court in Van Vleet and CJ?

I think Ujuri is smarter than that.

Gotta give up Simons/Little in the deal if you want a needle mover.

I thought Van Vleet always came off the bench. Unless Lowry was injured which has been often the past couple years

I look at CJ and Jerami Grants value as similar, with CJ being a little more valuable. But Detroit doesn’t need him. So we gotta find a third team that wants CJ and has picks/expirings to offer and re route those to the Pistons.
