I think it goes beyond even this. The one huge asset that the Blazers had in enticing free agents to sign here, whether that’s getting someone good with the Taxpayer’s MLE or re-signing Powell, is the chance to play with Dame and, hopefully, contend for a title. Now this FA’s aren’t sure Dame is committed to being here. That makes it even harder for Olshey to do his already hard job. Dame really shit the bed in the way he’s handled this, IMO. Put pressure on management to improve? Sure, but do it behind closed doors or at least make it clear that you’re committed to being here for a year or so.

That's a pretty good point. Aaron Rodgers was just saying the same thing about players coming to Green Bay, and you couldn't really argue with him on that either. I really hope Neil is able to do something tonight to prompt Dame to say something committal and make our tax-MLE more viable.

LOL....Jaynes has become a mouthpiece for Olshey

so it's not surprising he's saying Olshey's job is harder and it's Dame's fault. Olshey's job is harder because he didn't do it for years

Is it appropriate to say that Dame handled this offseason extremely poor?

Kind of funny that if the media hadn't created the story that Damian was going to make a trade demand or kept perpetuating the story that he "has to play" in a big market, he wouldn't have had to make it public.

Going public was the one tool Dame had in his chest to get moves made. But at least behind closed door, we need a full throated confidence from Dame that he'll stay when it comes to free agents. I think he'll do that.

Per Free agents, I bet they all have Dame's number of access to it. I bet any that are thinking about signing with Portland have had conversations with him and have a better understanding of where he is at rather then what we all have to rely on, which is rumors and the media. I doubt the Dame situation is having much effect on them signing here or not.

This really sounds like exactly the message Olshey is portraying. Although I don't think the asking price for players have ever changed. Olshey is just reluctant to move all in. He'll continue to play hardball until he loses.

There's no indication that Olshey would have even considered doing anything drastic if Dame hadn't put pressure on him, so no.

He’d better be willing to get on the phone with Norm and tell him that if he signs here Dame is committed to at least a season or two. Otherwise, bye bye, Norm.

I get that and i agree, but couldn’t Dame hold the gun on Olsheys head behind close doors? Like Jaynes said now every trade becomes very difficult

He said he never said the 75/25 or any of these things. He also commented on the money because that is what the exact questions was, would you give back money and he said no. He said he has talked with the team, but the rest is not coming from him.

He literally said he didn’t say anything that was in that article. He specifically mentioned the 75/25 and athletic big quotes. I assume he didn’t pay to read the whole article, so all he has are the quotes.
