Thats a reasonable statement. None of us in this place know what has, or hasn't been said exactly, behind closed doors. Dame said he has had his private conversation, with regards, to what he wants to see happen.
Any team trying to dump there 1 or 2 guy right before draft night will ask way high with a target in mind, but deals don't have to happen today or tonight.

 

Precisely, thats what Aaron Rogers is trying to do in suggesting certain talent or buddies.

This is the first time Dame has said anything other than he wants to win a title in Portland. I get that he was immensely frustrated by losing to Denver. I get that that experience clearly dissuaded him from any notion that the Blazers are close to contending. But, Dame is under contract to the team for several years and the Blazers are paying him a shitload of money to play ball here. I also get that that doesn't mean as much in today's NBA as it used to. That said, Dame has to know that he just made it immensely more difficult for the Blazers to make the changes he wants. What was already a difficult task given how few bullets Olshey has in his GM gun, is now limited to just one shot, IMO. Make a big deal and make it fast. Otherwise, the whole house of cards is going to start coming down.

This publicity and Dame addressing it is actually helping him in the short term.

 

He made getting free agents to sign here harder. I'll give you that but if no trade was made and Dame hadn't said anything public, we'd still have to convince Norm that it's a good idea to share touches with CJ and Dame and defend out of position. We would still only have the MLE. Also Neil has already gone on record saying he is shit at getting free agents to sign here. So free agency with Dame going public or not was already going to be hard to make big gains from.

Dame did not make trades harder at all. The value that we have in assets didn't change, the needs of teams in the league didn't change, us having Dame under contract didn't change, no GM in the league has any reason to think Dame will sit out or pull a Harden given Dame's history of character. So no bullets were taken away in the trade market... none.
