Before we traded Trent Jr he went 12 games shooting 22% from the field....pretty long slump and he doesn't finish well at the rim, rebound or pass very well...sure he's young. I was glad we let him move on...he has a motor and youth...maybe Toronto can make him a rotation player...Norm is much more of a two way player than Gary
Michael Holton talked about it when we traded him....maybe I'm misquoting him but he had a long shooting slump from my own recollection...otherwise why would we have traded him having his bird rights? I heard that on the radio broadcast ...but as to your stat sheet...maybe Holton was talking about 12 games..not 12 weeks...if so my bad...I don't see where you got that spreadsheet though....where do you find your stat sheets? Real GM? At any rate Trent didn't play well enough when CJ went down to pay him Norm money in my view...I wrote the 22% down in my notepad when he said it and noticed it the other day....I'm sure it was 12 games not 12 weeks so I changed that in my original post...good catch
Fischer is saying: - Overwhelming sense Norm re-signs with the Blazers - Lucrative deal - Possibly 3 year structure Interesting since everyone has been talking about a 4 year structure. Will be interesting to see if Fischer nails this prediction.
Norm hasn't been working with CJ Elleby all off season for nothing....I think that was a signal he was all in in Portland.
Trent is a streaky shooter for sure, and he's had bad 2 or 3 game stretches. But not 12 games, at least not this season: https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/trentga02/gamelog/2021 and the Splits Sheet I used was here: https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/trentga02/splits/2021 you can find those links for all players on their main BBREF pages in the drop-down menus as for why Olshey traded him, I'd say Powell is a better player and Powell's age fits a lot better into Dame's timeline. I'd also think Olshey was really worried about getting trapped in another 'Crabbe' situation with a toxic offer sheet to a RFA. May have felt that Powell's offers would not come in so high over his value as would Trent's
Well if you believe Fischer, then CJ is likely not gone. He said both teams (Raptors/Blazers) see Norm and GTJ as 2/3 wings that can maybe even guard 4s, so there's no either or situation with having CJ + GTJ or CJ + Norm. But the trade talks with Siakam/CJ have gone nowhere. It sounds more like run it back for Portland....
Ugh. I dont like this thinking but I also dont want to lose Powell for nothing. Can try to trade one of the two for a bigger dudes at the deadline I suppose.
I think the Blazers overvalue CJ. He’s basically an aging crafty scorer. We might have to settle for what we can get to balance the roster. I’d do a CJ for Tobias Harris (of course filler involved). But even then I’m not sure the Sixers would bite.
Sure.....just get ready for Melo's return! CJs wife went to graduate school in NYC so he spent offseasons there working out...she's graduated now and married to him so that's not why he's in NYC this time around. He might just love the place.
I think the first thing Fischer said about the Blazers this off-season was the bit about how the Becky Hammon reference check did not come back very good. I think I even laughed at the time why someone in the Blazers FO would leak this to him, but now I think he genuinely knows someone who works for the Blazers has at least some level of understanding of the Blazers thought process.
