Expect the Siakam talks to get more serious once Powell signs.

Also, there's now a couple teams that have over 30M capspace that are trying to sign Lowry. I think a hold up in the Siakam-CJ framework is finding that 3rd team to route McCollum to. Both Dallas and New Orleans would have significant interest in CJ if they lost out on Lowry I would think.

raps could keep mccollum, they need a guard (if they trade lowry) to pair with vanvleet

or if theyre not looking to compete right know, they will trade vanvleet (27) too

yes, they have him, but do they view him as a starting guard

from what ive read, raps fans arent high on him, they see him like 6th man and wouldnt pay him more than $17 mil and they think hes not worth more than $15 mil

I would think they want him to be a starter if they're going to pay him 15M+. You don't pay that much for a backup.

But it would be quite funny for GTJ to get traded into a starting role, only to end up back behind CJ after a year.

I can see Dallas being interested in CJ.

hopefully we send mccollum elsewhere, whether is a two or a three team trade

bringing in a quality foward for a better fit and having powell moved to shooting guard, should drastically improve our team and then you hope nurk will take a leap under billups

thats a dream case scenario and hopefully my guy neil olshey works his magic

    ok then...CJ for Siakam

    * how much more than CJ would you want Portland to pay in terms of draft picks? 1 first? two firsts? one first, one swap? more?

    * and if part of the price was one of Simons/Little, instead of a pick...which one of those would you want to keep over the other?

    * finally, would you add an extra first to trade Olshey for Ujiri?

edit: just had a thought, could the Toronto/PDX discussions be, in part, a tactic for Olshey to try and force Morey to shit or get off the pot on Simmons?

and with that thought: who would you rather have Simmons or Siakam?

    Dame-Powell-RoCo-Siakam-Nurkic...does look intriguing...is it a contender?

Fischer and Stein on substack just said:

Lillard is not getting traded anytime soon. Neither side wants out.

Philly would EMPHATICALLY reject any CJ for Simmons framework. The way they said it made it seem like they wouldn't consider it even if Dame was an impossibility.

That's why the 3 team trade has to be the answer. Morey is trying to act tough. But Philly fan wants nothing to do with Simmons. Morey thinks he's gonna get this record haul in return. Ain't gonna happen. He may still trade Simmons to GS. Wiggins, Wiseman, and a future 1st, or one of the Warriors picks from the recent draft might be as good as it gets.

And none of those players is as dynamic an offensive threat as CJ, when he's healthy. And the way CJ is working out, i look for him to have a fantastic season. Embiid, Harris, & CJ look pretty damn good.

Could be, but again, would have to involve a 3 team trade. CJ is a better player & talent than anything Dallas has not named Doncic. No way i trade CJ for Poor Ol' Zingus.

If Olshey goes through this off-season without trading a single future first, how can he go to Dame with a straight face and say "We did everything possible to improve the team"? Especially when you go look at what every other contender has done in the last few years and will do this year.

I have Siakam as about equal to CJ. He's a better fit... but I'd be hesitant to throw much I to the trade.

From my perspective, the order of assets from least valuable to more valuable would be:
    Simons < Little < future 1st

I really haven't seen much out of either Simons or Little to think that either will be more than journeymen players.

I most definitely would throw in an extra 1st to swap GMs.

However, getting Ben to Portland would have the highest benefit of the possible scenarios being thrown about

If you don't give the other team a reason to do the trade, why would they do it? That's my stance on any CJ deal.
