Across the sports landscape, we're seeing franchise players really starting to grasp the power and influence they have on their team, market and sport and an especially weak recognition of that by team leadership. The days of forcing a player to play out their contract when they're worth 10s of millions of dollars are gone and the players are starting to understand that.

So yeah, it feels early in his career for a guy like Zion to have those feelings, but I think part of that is us as fans being a little slow to catch up to this phenomenon as well. Frankly, I don't blame him. The NBA is setup in such a way that being mediocre is literally the worst thing you can be...

What can DJ and one (or two) of a future pick, Nas, or Simons get us?

I’d like to have someone like Nance Jr. or Marcus Smart. Probably pipe dreams though. I think our youngsters may not be worth giving up for either of them too.

This would have worked so much better at the deadline, when New Orleans still had Lonzo Ball, whom they had already decided they weren't going to keep.

if it's safe to assume that Olshey has no intention of trading CJ....

what is the best remaining trade? Something like Jones and a 1st for Nance? Would that even be close to enough for Cleveland? Would it have to be Jones and multiple picks?

Would be curious to see if we could get Thad from San Antonio. Doesn't feel like they're in win-now mode, and both he and Jones are expirings, so no long-term cap impacts to them...

I’d like that as a pickup over trying to add a 1st to get Nance. We already spent 2 1sts on an elite kind of role player, I’d rather not add any more 1sts unless for a star kind of player.

If we don't make a trade, I'm going to be extremely unhappy.... I'm going to have to create a whole new "this is the worst blazer team I have ever seen" thread.

Spurs aren't in danger of going over the apron as constructed. Would be nice if we could send them a 2nd round pick to make the Zach deal a S&T, giving us a TPE of 6 million or so.

I think the TPE for sign-and-traded a player is 50% so it'd be more around $3.25M.

Not worth it for a 2nd in my opinion.

I've never heard that rule before. Where have you seen that at? The TPE is generated by the difference in what is sent out versus what comes in. There's usually not rules adjusting that #.

    Base Year Compensation (BYC):

So for purposes of BYC, Collins would register a TPE based on last year's salary, as it's greater than 50% of the 1st year of his new contract. So we'd be able to get a TPE of apx. $5.4M

    I'd take a 5.4 million dollar TPE for a 2nd.

I thought he agreed for a $7M contract.

If possible, there are a few players I'd be interested in to come back. Here is an option

Collins + DJJ -> Aminu + Hutchison? (opens ~$4.3M of cap space & Spurs can cut Thad Young to gain $8M more to sign Oubre @ ~$13M)
Then sign Thad to the tax MLE.

    Markanen + Porzingis + #1 pick

    From Dallas

CJ + Nurkic go to the Mavs

This would be a “haul” for Portland considering how us homers value our own players

You may say that Porzingis is oft injured however Nurkic doesn’t have a much better history.

    Dame / Summer Leager
    Powell / Ant / MacLemore / Ellesby
    Markanen / Snell / Naz
    RoCo / Faried / Brown
    Porzingis / Zeller / Milsap

it’s not Siakam nor Simmons nor KAT
But are we better than last year?

Dallas signed Hardaway. Cj would be sort of redundant and probably cost more.
