It's a pretty good deal, I think. It gets us out from under Dame, makes us younger, and gives us at least as good a chance to make a playoff run as we have now. I don't think that is the way I'd have the positions established, as Simmons would handle the ball from the point guard spot most of the time, but I don't think it really matters. The more I think about it, the more I think this team winning anything with Dame is very very unlikely (a very good CJ trade is our only potential saving grace)... setting the expectation that it is will just create frustration from fans and Dame and when we go to trade Lillard he's going to be worth less (since he'll be older and disgruntled). Signing McLemore and Snell should have no impact on this level of a trade. We'll just waive them if we need to.

I didn't watch college BBall this year. Would a Dame trade that netted us Jalen Suggs be of interest? Something like: Dame to Philly Simmons to Orlando Suggs and ? one of these, and a pick from each of Philly and Orlando to Portland Downsides: For us: we'd suck (rather than being a 7th or 8th seed) For Philly:Simmons in the same conference, and you know he'd be up for Philly games For Orlando: maybe they don't like Simmons? Why not just keep Simmons? Well, for all the reasons Philly wants to trade him, plus he doesn't want to be here, plus he seems to have a shitty attitude (and NEVER SMILES). Suggs, on the other hand, sounds like (a) a winner, (b) a leader, and (c) while not the elite passer/defender/athlete Simmons is, is very good at just about everything, no glaring holes in his game.
To make that work you'd probably be looking at Philly sending Orlando enough picks that they send us Isaac, Suggs, Bamba and their first rounder in the next draft unprotected. Obviously after that our team gets totally torn down, just trying to add picks and young players. That's obviously only if Dame demands a trade. I still think Neil can get something that really makes a difference with CJ, maybe DJJ and picks. I just don't think Neil wants to trade CJ plus for a player that would fit much much better because he overvalues CJ. Hopefully that's not the case and we see something get done that brings some excitement to this team because right now there's not a lot of that.
It would have to be something like Simmons, Maxey, Thybulle and 3 or 4 first round picks. Those picks are gonna be in the 20's and not great either.
