Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa!

I tried for the ticket lottery to the game, but was unsuccessful. Dyersville, Iowa is about an hour from my place. That game was awesome and a great showing for Iowa. I'm hopeful it happens once a year moving forward.

From what I read it will happen again next year at least. I would fly out there just to see that game if I could get tickets.

There will never be another one like that one though.

Yeah, I read the news that the game will be coming back next year. Nothing will be like this first game, but will still be fun.

The ticket lottery was only for people with Iowa addresses, $300/ticket if you were selected. They were being resold for $1000-$3000, which was ridiculous.

What was so special about the first game other than it being the first? I’m just reading about this for the first time.

Perfect atmosphere, setting, ambience...and then the game itself was lights out. Home runs into the corn in the top of the 9th to take the lead and then a walk off home run to win the game in the bottom of the 9th. Fireworks went off just perfectly too. Players were in awe before the game. It was clear the game was different/special.

I think it helps if you’ve seen the movie. It was a fantastic game.

Jim Rome thought it was corny. He wants a Sandlot remake next year.

I didn't realize Jim Rome was still like... a thing? Is he still on?

I don't mean that as a swipe at him. Just didn't realize he was still around.
