I'm a humanist. I care about people and animals suffering. I'm a feminist. I care about women and girls taken as sex slaves, denied education and forced out of workforce.
This was always going to happen if the US wasn't committed to staying 50 years and re-educating the next generation of that country. It seems like to have any chance at all we'd have had to start by making sure there were no more Saudi funded Wahhabism based schools and replace them with democratic based schools, defended by military. We would really have to win the hearts and minds of the people. And that was going to be a tall order which would mean stop being a military force and start being a peace keeping force only responding to violence against the people. And it still might have failed. But the way we did it we had no chance. It was always going to end this way. Once there we should have probably just built military bases there and planned on staying for good. These people deserve better than what we're leaving them to deal with. It's just such a sad situation.
I would be comfortable leaving President Bush alone in a room with my wife and teen daughter. The other one would not get out of there unharmed...
Americans are really good at that. Kony 2012, for example, was a huge thing for a while, and then we got distracted. It's something that left and right both do. It gets old really quick, but on the plus side, because the people who bring up this this are easy to read and predict what they're going to all the sudden care about or post about.
I worry about America. This place is going to hell in a hand basket and fast. Worry about my kids. Trump and his political wannabes like DeSantis, Cruz, Boebart, Greene, a bunch of Nazi zealots who are happy seeing America fall apart. It’s infuriating.
It'll be interesting, to say the least, watching DeSantis run against Trump in 2024...that is, if Trump even runs.
Yeah, at 71 Ive seen it happen over time. People just seem more interested in taking sides and no prisoners anymore. Man, I too worry everyday about my adult kids and young grandkids. My grandson that is going into high school just got chastised by his best friends parents for getting vaccinated, which really pissed me off. My 15 year old granddaughter was grabbed by an antifa dude downtown because she had a Youth for Christ shirt on. Im not religious but I dont have a problem with friends or family that want to be. Its their freedom of choice. Others shouldn't not get physical with kids because of their contrary believes. Touch my grandkids in front of me wouldn't be a good idea. Im amazed at all the graffiti and garbage in many parts of our city.
I don't think Trump will run again. Nothing was more humiliating to him than losing in 2020 and he's not going to open himself up to that risk again. Especially when he's not likely to even escape the Republican primaries, which would be particularly galling for a former President.
I think he'll start his own political party. He'll get to keep the majority of the money his donors give and he'll blame the republican party for his loss for not supporting him.
Its depressing and frustrating to say the least. I wouldnt even let my kids go downtown at this point. And if some parents chastised my kids about being vaccinated....oh man...I hope i'd be able to maintain composure.
I would love that. Especially if he ran people of his new party in House and Senate races. I have no problem with Democratic control of all three branches for the foreseeable future!
I did like Biden saying he is president and buck stops with him. After four years of every time something went wrong so called president whined about how unfair it was to him.

Understood. I as well care about all those things. But I hate when people who have never given a shit about those things all of a sudden care. All of a sudden every Trump supporter and FOX News anchor is concerned about all the things you mentioned above for the first time in their lives.
