But not everybody got vaccinated! Had they, we wouldn’t have to wear masks right right?

they were wrong. Is it possible they might have been/might be wrong about anything else?

i just don't get the hate from some people here for simply asking and questioning things.
especially when these same people claim to be about “others”.

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone can predict that. I guess it will be over when a lack of mask mandates doesn't result in the hospitals being overwhelmed. Right now, we're not there. Greater vaccination percentages would make that more likely though.

    Current Blazer Management,
Due to your dangerous and UnConstitutional requirements invading the personal healthcare and safety choices of all Americans, and your continued tacit approval-by-profit for China's Uyghur Slave Labor Camps, I will never again financially support your organization(s).

I look forward to the inevitable changes in ownership.
    Sincerely,
    Ed Benjamin

Possible. I'm only operating off of what is clearly observable. They optimistically removed mask mandates based on vaccination numbers, then we saw a COVID spike. It's pretty clear correlation (and likely causation). Regardless of what else they might have been wrong about, they are pretty clearly right about this.

I don't think it's a percent of people dying so much as the ability of our hospital system to take care of everyone else who isn't a COVID patient. Right now, the volume of COVID infections/hospitalizations is preventing other people from being able to receive treatment for other eminently treatable conditions. Societally, this is what we want to avoid.

This is a reasonable discussion and a reasonable main-board topic given that it relates directly to the Blazers. It will likely be merged with the OT board "Covid vaccine game thread" eventually, but it's OK here for now, as long as people are civil.

It's already more fun to watch on TV, regardless of masks.

Everyone should be tested if anything. Fresh study out of Israel (not from facebook):

Background Immune protection following either vaccination or infection with SARS-CoV-2 decreases over time.
Conclusions This study demonstrates individuals who received the Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA vaccine have different kinetics of antibody levels compared to patients who had been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with higher initial levels but a much faster exponential decrease in the first group.
Impact statement Large scale study display the kinetics of SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies present in individuals vaccinated with two doses of mRNA vaccine vs. unvaccinated patients who had recovered from the disease: initial levels of antibody are much higher in vaccinated patients, but decrease faster.

What does that suggest anything about testing? If anything, this highlights the need for boosters.

I tried and found nothing of the sort, so feel free to post a link.

I did however find out that in the US the Roman Catholic Church has an estimated operating budget of $100 billion, so the fact you allege they give over 200 billion in aid to the US annually is extremely generous!

Interestingly enough, when I search for how much aid the church gave the US annually, the entire first page of google had a story about how the U.S. Roman Catholic Church "used a special and unprecedented exemption from federal rules to amass at least $1.4 billion in taxpayer-backed coronavirus aid, with many millions going to dioceses that have paid huge settlements or sought bankruptcy protection because of clergy sexual abuse cover-ups." The church actually used the federal government's signature small business relief program.

"As the pandemic began to unfold, scores of Catholic dioceses across the US received aid through the Paycheck Protection Program while sitting on well over $10bn in cash, short-term investments or other available funds, an Associated Press investigation has found. Despite the economic downturn, these assets have grown in many dioceses."

The numbers we're talking about are incredible. It's especially weird that an institution telling people to focus on faith and less on worldly possessions would be so wealthy. It’s as if that’s a primary motivation for them. It's a good thing they save tens of billions of dollars annually. "When they buy stuff, they don't pay sales taxes. When they sell stuff at a profit, they don't pay capital gains tax. If they spend less than they take in, they don't pay corporate income taxes. Priests, ministers, rabbis and the like get "parsonage exemptions" that let them deduct mortgage payments, rent and other living expenses when they're doing their income taxes. They also are the only group allowed to opt out of Social Security taxes (and benefits)."

Anyway, thanks for asking me to search for how charitable the Catholic Church is.

I also searched and couldn't find anything to back up jonnyboy's claim. It seems highly implausible.

No. What I'm saying is exactly what i said.

Nobody anywhere has given you any kind of date when it will all be over. But they have shown you it is not over yet.

Again. Wasting time covering things that have been covered for many months.
To respond to the original statement. I am happy they are taking this seriously and i respect they are making the decision they are making but for me i will continue to social distance and watch games from home until the pandemic eases. I simply wear a mask for many hours every day and would rather not the rest of the day.
