The hotel I stayed at in May in Playa Del Carmen had set up a clinic in the resort and tested us there. It was very professional and very easy.
I got the covid test today. All good, plus they didn’t stick it up my nose nearly as far as the time I got tested back home
Barcelona is the top Spanish city for foreigners to visit but I'd try Valencia. I think Valencia is the home of the paella if memory serves me. Marseilles looks like a good choice but I'd prefer either Cannes or Monte Carlo.
Been to Valencia (participated in La Tomatilla) and even visited La Abufera for paella and the rice fields. Awesome city, but I need to go to Barcelona for my 5 year recurring visit to see Sagrada La Familia being built. I've wanted to see the Fallas festival in Valencia where they burn everything down. Kind of want that metropolitan French vibe without going to Paris.
I've heard the French roll their eyes at Americans and chain smoke all over France..on another note I've heard from many friends who live there that Belgium might be what you're looking for as Paris light..that Paris vibe is mostly locals pretending they don't speak english and people wearing lots of black clothing with scarves...(just kidding)
So…..I was hoping to take the wife to Victoria next late month, but with all the hoops still needed to jump through to get across the border (and my wife’s general ambivalence about traveling in general) it looks like I’m going to head off on a 7-9 day road trip to Colorado and back by myself (most likely). In all my travels, I’ve only really been to CO at Four Corners, and twenty feet of CO doesn’t exactly give one a feel for the place. I hate interstates and hope to take a lot of secondary roads. But to get through Southern Idaho (some of the ugliest country in America) ASAP, I have no choice but to take I-80 into Wyoming until cutting south into north central CO. But the options are pretty much endless. I have every intention of avoiding Denver (or merely passing through it at worst). I may even go as far as going as into Nebraska and dropping into Kansas before looping back, dropping down and heading back west via Pueblo to Grand Junction. Or just bang around the western half of CO. I’m still trying to figure it out. If anyone has any suggestions of places to visit (that don’t include Denver) I’m all ears. I like the smaller towns and slower pace. And my itinerary (with one exception) is pretty wide open. The only hard and fast part of the trip is returning via “The Loneliest Road In America” across Nevada. So, if anyone has any suggestions of places to check out (which can include SW Nebraska or NW Kansas) please feel free to share. I would really appreciate it.
I'd recommend skipping Kansas and when you go to SW Nebraska, cross the Missouri River in Omaha...take I 29 north from Council Bluffs Iowa up through Sioux City and stop at Lewis and Clark state park in Monona County on the way..maybe trek into the foothills a bit and enjoy Sioux City...better than Kansas, Nebraska or Denver...if you have time go up to the Black Hills in the Dakotas on your way....I enjoyed Central City Colorado although it's up in ski country and pretty touristy....you can't avoid Denver to get to the ski towns that I know of...have a fun trip..it's a 90 mile trip from Omaha to Sioux City...Omaha stinks as the stock yards are there Stone Park in Sioux City is a beautiful hill ampitheater filled with flowers...South Side Sioux City was little Chicago...built by Al Capone and has some interesting old history
Very western Nebraska/Kansas is as far east as I’m going…….if I even get that far. I was just thinking of seeing an “off interstate” part of both states if time permits. Too there is a Prairie Museum of Art And History in Colby KS that looks interesting. And small town watering holes are far and away the best avenue to getting a feel for the area, so secondary roads are a priority. And if I loop back via Pueblo I can still pass through a bunch of the tony ski towns without getting near Denver……not that over priced and over hyped glamor towns are a priority. But I appreciate the suggestions! I’m still just kicking around my options while trying to leave some room for spontaneity. Departure is still 3-4 weeks out and plans are still vague.
I've spent a lot of time at some family friend's place in Colorado Springs. Great scenery and plenty to do outside if you are into that. I also spent 4 days broken down in the tiny town of Flagler. I would not recommend that.
Some nice places back East include Niagra Falls, New York City and the Capitol building. When visiting the Capitol try taking the commuter train from one of the Senate office buildings to the Capitol, that's when I ran into Senator Robert Byrd. Mid way to the Capitol there is a cafeteria that serves awful food. The best I could see was the hamburger. And they recycle nothing.
I can recommend Mo's Discount Likker Barn in Buena Vista, CO. If I were you I'd skip ID and the freeways and head south into NV, then across the middle of UT. Can't go wrong with UT. barfo
I’m doing the Utah thing on the way back. Thought I’d do a dive bar tour across it. Should be a fast trip……..

I can tell you from experience, Utah's highway police like to pull Oregonians over. Make sure you hide your stash well on that leg of your trip!
I like deserted Eastern Oregon. Ever been to Dufur? It's a hoppin' town. Lot's to do if you like watching traffic hustle by. They say there's a different car going by every fifteen minutes.
