Which GM? That terrible GM down in the Bay Area (from which MANY of the rumors about CA teams can almost certainly be traced to) who you know put together the team that rattled off the best regular-season record in NBA history and a bunch of titles. That guy is a scrub though. /s

Links to golden state have been pretty loose, if not just media driven. He doesn’t even fit with that team unless they were looking to dump Draymond, which doesn’t sound very smart. The team with the most concrete interest seems to be Minnesota, which sounds about right.

Hahahah of course his agent is Bartlestein!!

    https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2021...h-parties-says-players-agent-terry-pluto.html
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cavaliers and the agent for forward Larry Nance have been talking about a trade for a few months.

“It’s not like Larry wanted to be traded or had any problems with Cleveland,” said Mark Bartelstein, his agent. “He loves everything about the Cavs and Cleveland. He grew up there. But we also had a discussion about where Larry is right now at this point in his career and what he wanted to do next.”

The 28-year-old Nance is entering his seventh NBA season. He was traded to Portland on Friday in A 3-way deal bringing 7-foot Lauri Markkanen to the Cavs. Markkanen had played the first four years of his career with Chicago.

“Larry is a great player entering his prime,” said Bartelstein. “I had been talking to Koby (Cavs GM Koby Altman) for a few months about possibly finding a place where Larry could go and play in big time games. The Cavs are still building. Larry would like a chance to play in the postseason in high level games.”

Bartelstein said Altman was reluctant to trade Nance. The GM had turned down several trade offers for the Revere High product in the past.

“Really, this started with a call from me,” said Bartelstein. “We wanted to find two things: A place where Larry would like to play and a deal where the Cavs would get real value in return.”

Agents often are involved in deals like this. Markkanen was a restricted free agent, meaning he had to sign a contract first and then be dealt. Meanwhile, the Cavs were looking for a playoff team where Nance’s all-around skills would fit in well. The 6-foot-9 Nance is an outstanding defender, ballhandler and rebounder.

“Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum will love playing with Larry,” said Bartelstein, referring to Portland’s two high-scoring guards. The Trailblazers had a 42-30 record in 2020-21. They have made the playoffs in each of the last eight seasons.

The Cavs re-signed 7-foot Jarrett Allen. Then they drafted 7-foot Evan Mobley. While Markkanen also is 7-foot, his best attribute is long distance shooting. He made 40 percent of his 3-pointers last season.

That blends with Allen and Mobley, who are not known for outside shooting. Nor is Nance a 3-point specialist.

“This is a win/win for both sides,” said Bartelstein. “Larry is excited and a little heartbroken at the same time because of his attachment to Cleveland. But at this stage of his career, this is the right move for Larry to make.”

Bartelstein made this final point: “The toughest part of this is how strongly Larry feels about the city of Cleveland , the entire community, the fans, his teammates – all of what the Cavs, the city Cleveland, And Ohio means to him. There is no way to duplicate that”

I would not be surprised to see it happen. As discussed Dray's act has worn thin in GS. An influx of energy might be what GS needs as Curry and Thompson wear down. At times I could see them putting Simmons at center and surrounding him with 4 shooters.

Philly gets Dray and a center to back up Embiid. It could happen.

I will agree those are rumors about GSW, but they sounded quite plausible as did the Toronto rumors. I believe GSW is trying to retool with an eye toward the future and Draymond might very well be on the block. IMO, both of those GMs are excellent.

35% last year, 36% this year, I'd say 37% in a Portland uni would be pretty good.

You can agree with Chicago to amend protections, would likely take cash at the deadline if we're a surefire playoff team and could open up our 2024 1st.

Could also trade a 2024 1st round pick with the condition that said pick conveys two years after the 2022 pick does. And could do that with future picks as well.

So the protections shouldn't affect anything. If anything, you might be able to fetch more than a 1st for one of Nance and RoCo at the deadline and keep the other one.

The GM that traded Powell for Trent Jr. and then gave Trent Jr. a worse contract than Powell got?

The GM that made the boneheaded mistake of drafting Scottie Barnes over Jalen Suggs?

Ujiri hasn't been particularly good since trading for Kawhi.

His whole plan is to get a bunch of playmaking, ball-handling forwards (Siakam, Barnes, Simmons, etc). It won't work.

I have a very hard time seeing Giles as a bust knowing that a coach like Stotts makes decisions concerning playing time.

Can’t blame Giles on Stotts, hes just not good. No functional strength and a low bball IQ. Would be surprised to see him in the league next season. He needs to go to Europe and learn how to play basketball. He’s still got age on his side.

You just wait it's guaranteed there will be a substantial list of people who hate Billups and say that it must be some sort of dementia that resulted in us selecting him. It's happened with every coach we've hired and whatever GM we have will get the blame for this fantasy dementia.
There's only one coach that I felt shouldn't have been there and another that I thought wasn't too good. The wasn't to good one was Rolland Todd our very first cosch. The one that should never have been hired was Msurice Cheeks.
