For pizza give me Julianos and Blind Onion ... both are delicious and have to have one of them when I'm back in the Couve. Tough to wrong with Papa Murphys for chain!
Shakey's used to be my favorite when I was a kid but now they're down to 52 restaurants, two in Washington and 50 in California so I've had to search near and far. When I lived in St. Louis there was a fabulous pizza joint that served a thin crust pizza with lots and lots of toppings. Also, NY city and New Jersey had great pizzas that you could even buy by the slice. They were also thin crust. Sorry Chicago, I don't care for thick crust. Mine have to start with lots and lots of red sauce. Then, everyplace on the pizza must be covered with pepperoni. No other meats except very occasionally some Italian sausage. Next I like mushrooms all over and sliced black olives all over. Last I sometimes like a vegetarian pizza with red onion, green bell pepper, various Mediterranean olives and artichoke hearts. Last, I need a pitcher of a good pilsner. I like Tsing Tao and Cours Banquet not the light. I'll settle for a Guiness.
Blind Onion is great. I've been to the one in the Couv. For home, it's DiGiorno thin crust. I usually doll it up a bit.
I'm with you on the corn meal, crispy crust @Orion Bailey . That is where all pizza starts. Pietro's and Paddington's are my favorites. Giovanni's Mountain Pizza is a nice treat on the way home from Hoodoo after a long day on the skiing/snowboarding.
This thread is spiraling out of control! Can we rename it to “pizza” instead of pie? This is pure madness!!!!!
just killing two birds with one stone. Maybe people like meat pies! we know @UncleCliffy'sDaddy does!
This may need to be it's own thread, because I can see this really derailing things... If you put pineapple on pizza you are wrong.
i didnt used to like it on either. Now i find cooked pineapple better than cold. Do you like pineapple upside down cake?
