You would try to read a gay and lesbian manners book for dummies instead of reading the audience and the room. I've spent a lot of time with lgbtq people. They have prefered spouse if you don't know.
I said "dunno", which may subtlety imply I probably won't be picking up the book anytime soon. At any rate, as always, thanks again for your sharing your vast expertise.
Not it's not a fair question. It's very inappropriate and crass. Even if you are genuinely curious its just wrong to go there. Imagine how violating that is to Crandc.
Your reading comprehension is alarming The popular question is why do couples use husband and wife over partner? It's not are you the husband or the wife? Also, the article says don't ask that and it goes shortly into why. Chasten is a husband. Pete is a husband too. It never says Pete is the wife. Pete refers to Chasten as his husband. You made an assumption. They could go by husband and wife. They could go by partner or spouse. It's not yours or my business what they choose. Gay women may go by wife and wife, but they could too go by what they want. When gay couples use husband or wife its because they fought for the right to call each other that. The fought hard for the right to marry. But, they can use whatever they want. Straight people don't get to label gay people.
After Obergefell many states that had not already done so updated language on marriage license applications to reflect reality. It would not surprise me if some states still used husband and wife to show their contempt for us. We don't define ourself by those who hate us.
