And honestly I think Philly is going to be lucky to get that much once he starts sitting out.

Cj + RoCo + 2 firsts was always my absolute highest I’d go, unhappy in the extreme to do it, but still barely willing. I’d much rather trade Nas than RoCo. That said, maybe this clears the way for Nas to develop and we definitely need to develop Nas or trade him for a star. Im hoping this is a signal from Morey and Olshey bites on a reduced package that is similar. Preferably no picks involved or minus RoCO.

Why does Philly have to trade him now? They wont unless they get a haul now and that isn't happening. Morey wont hesitate to wait a couple months or so while Ben doesn't play to gain a better deal. They'll still be good without him and more teams will get serious after the season starts.

Because if Simmons keeps sitting out, the deals aren't going to get better. Everyone knows that Philly has to trade him. They HAVE to. So whether that's not or in two months, the deal doesn't change.

The notion that they'll get a better deal after Ben sits out of training camp is a fucking joke. Why do people repeat such nonsense? His value can only go down from here.

WTF. Minny just fired their GM. This was the dude who used to work with Morey in Houston.

I wonder if their ownership didn't like a trade idea he was pitching. They're supposedly hot for Simmons.

Bwahahahahah they misspelled their own team name in the press release.

    "timberwovles."

If they wait it doesn't mean Simmons's value will go down. It is what it is at this point. There is the scenario that some team eg. Portland has a bad start to the year and then be more willing to meat Philly's price to shake things up.

Simmons has 4 years left and Philly will not be in danger of missing the playoffs unless some Embiid disaster. They probably have time till the deadline to decide.

I m not saying it's unlikely his value will go down, but there is also the scenario some team gets desperate and meets Morey's demands.

    that's a pretty interesting trade

certainly, there's an argument that KAT would be a much better addition to Portland than Simmons. A Dame/KAT P-n-R would be deadly; so would a P-n-Pop

Dame-Powell-RoCo-Nance-KAT. Defense would take a hit, but could easily still be better than last season. Offense would be awesome

I'm not sure I like this trade for anyone other than the Wolves who would be vastly better. I feel like we might actually be worse with this trade as our defense woes would possibly increase. Our offense would probably be better, but jeez I dunno. I'd much, much rather go for CJ + for Simmons.

    That is an interesting proposal.

I can see why Portland and Philly do it - not sure on TWolves. Do they see Simmons as at least close to KAT in value? In that case, 2 FRPs and Nurk is a nice haul. If they see KAT as clearly better than Simmons, or they simply don't want to risk repeating the Butler situation, they say no.

I would trade CJ, RoCo and a pick for Simmons and Thybulle or Maxey... which has to be the trade being discussed if Stephen A. isn't just talking out of his ass.

A rotation of Dame, Norm, Nance, Simmons, Nurk, Ant, Thybulle/Maxey, Nas, Snell, Zeller is better than what we currently have.

I just really hope the trade is being discussed because if it is that means we're still in the running for a guy that could be a superstar running mate for Dame.

If we give up 2 firsts, that means (effectively) we've given up FIVE firsts for Simmons and Nance (four for Simmons alone).
    Too high.

You mean, actually having a source that isn't a complete bullshitter. Yes, that is too much credit. Why would he need actual inside info? He's not Dan Rather, he's the My Pillow guy.

Interesting. I had the exact opposite reaction. Nurk is injury prone, you know how I feel about Simmons (and let me again say it has nada to do with the Hawks' series) and draft picks always carry an element of risk. By contrast, Philly gets a dependable scorer and a prospect. Portland gets some decent backcourt depth and a guy who could mesh with Dame to become the best center in the WC.

To put it another way, IMHO this is a low risk/significant reward deal for both Philly and Portland. The TWolves are the ones who are taking a gamble.

I really doubt it's legitimately two firsts, more likely 2023 swap and 2024 first. We also have to end up with Maxey, Thybulle or even Seth for the trade to work. All of that being said, Stephen A.'s sources are likely Philly sources since he's a Philly native. So if we are making a similar offer the Philly source would inflate it to try and get bigger offers from the other teams involved.
