Electronic records mean nothing is private. I am careful what I say to regular doctors. IMO shrinks are abusers with a socially acceptable outlet.
One time I went to the S2 Blazer forum and in the thread, no one was bickering, no one was melting down, and no one took something wrong or too personally. I didn't know where I was for a bit. It was very traumatic.
Damn. Next time I feel sorry for myself over my health problems I will think about what some of you have gone through and remember I ain't that bad off! Best wishes to all of you.
I had a picture perfect upbringing. Great parents. Loving dad who I spent a lot of time practicing sports with, worked hard to support us even though they both came from meager beginnings. but my biggest trauma was in 2010 when I suddenly got sick and was in the hospital for over 2 months and 4 surgeries. Went into septic shock and nearly died. Doctors told my parents it was a good likelihood I wouldn’t make it through the night. But I made it. And here I am to school all you dweebs.

Honestly this doesn't compare to some of the other stories in here but it was traumatic as a kid. I was ten years old and it was spring time, so naturally I was in the middle of baseball season. I had been playing 2nd base in a game and had gone to field a hard hit ground ball that took a weird hop and nailed me right in the eye. Left quite the shiner as well. Over the next day or so I was out of it, was feeling sick and not really keeping anything down. My parents thought I might have a concussion so they took me to the doctors. Doc looked me over and agreed with them, so she sent me home. Next day I'm still feeling sick and I noticed blood in my stool, but being 10 years old, I was embarrassed and didn't realize how dangerous that was. My parents kept me home from school and I went to my aunts day care to spend the day there. Following day I'm still sick and my parents again get worried so off to the doctors we go, but they still don't know about the blood and if I'm not going to tell my parents, I'm definitely not telling the doctor. Same result as before and off to my aunts we go but I'm really dehydrated and can't keep anything down. This time after going to the bathroom, my aunt notices some blood in the toilet and immediately calls mom and finally I tell her it's been happening for a couple days. Mom picks me up and rushes me back to the same doctor, who for a 3rd time thinks nothing is really wrong, sends us home with some antibiotics and to check in the following day. Again we go home and I can't keep anything down, food or water and finally my mom says we are headed to the ER. We get to the hospital, the ER nurse takes one look at me and rushes me in. All of a sudden I'm in a strange room being poked and prodded. They wanted to life flight me over to Doernbechers but since it was the middle of the night they decided to just rush me over in an ambulance. I ended up going in for emergency surgery the next morning as I had a pouch in my intestines that had ruptured. It was a pouch I was born with that normally pops as a baby but for whatever reason it didn't happen in me for first ten years. Was laid up in the hospital for about a week and just remember the pain of having a catheter put in, that still gives me the shivers. As a kid the worst part was our teachers went on strike while I was out and didn't even miss any school. ER doctor told my parents that I'd lost so much blood that if I'd gone to sleep that night, chances were very high I wouldn't have woken up. Needless to say we never went back to the original doctor that sent me home three times.
I had an emergency surgery to remove my large intestine (the whole thing). It had perforated due to a sudden onset case of Ulcerative Colitis.
It wasn't me, but I had an elderly relative who went to his doctor because of pain when he was peeing, so the doctor prescribed cranberry juice, saying it was just a bladder infection. He kept drinking cranberry juice, and nothing changed. In fact it got worse. Eventually they went to a different doctor, and that doctor did a more thorough examination, and found out it was bladder cancer. The worst part? Had the first doctor, who had been his doctor for years, discovered it when he first went in, it would've been much simpler to treat. Instead, he had to go through chemo. I wish this was like in the 1950's, but this was like 15 years ago.

Damn man. My sister also had a very bad ulcerative colitis flare up when she was 17 or so. It was scary,and she was in the hospital for months.
When HCP posted a selfie of his face on a Will Ferrell speedo pose from that basketball movie....it was traumatic...I'll never be able to unsee it!

My traumatic experience is that I can't quit this space. I really should. Kidding aside..... My best regards and utmost respect to theprunetang, Chris Craig, Lanny, MickZagger, OB, and all for their shares (no disrespect for anyone I'm not listing - I'm not feeling keen digging through all of the shares). Been through some heavy shit myself, but numb or resolved from it far enough I don't consider traumatic and/or want to share. But I respect the shares. Glad you've all made it this far in your lives. FAMS!
This reminds me of three more traumatic experiences. I was playing third base and got hit with a line drive in my index finger. Knocked it out of joint. So here I am standing there stunned looking at my zigzag finger. Finally I call to stop the game. This guy comes over and says we need to yank on the end to pop it back in joint. So he yanks real hard. No result. He yanks again only this time harder and it pops back in. Went to the doctor who takes an X-Ray and tells me I broke a bone in the joint. One day I get this bad bad pain in the right side of my belly. The pain was so horrific that my wife had to pull over on the way to the E--Room so I could vomit in the ditch. I passed three more kidney stones in the next three months or so. I got a dangerous infection no doubt during dialysis. Had to go to the ICU where I spent 3 1/2 weeks most of it delirious. Nearly died. My wife came every day for about 13 hours and cried constantly. Had to learn to walk and even talk again. Some say, cough cough Sly, that I'm still not right in the head. For those of you who've been wondering, here's your answer.
When i was 8 or 9, i used my older step brothers weights and left them in the yard overnight. They got wet and rusted up. so the next time my step brother baby sat, he punished me by tieing me to the fence by the road in my underwear all day long while cars drove by. Not one car stopped….. little boy in briefs only tied to a fence and no one stops???? my first reality check of the selfishness of people behind the wheel.
When I was about 16 I used to get these terrible pains in my gut. I use to drink a lot of cokes. I'd drink some half and half and the pain would go away. I wonder if I had what your sister had.
Hopefully you have been able to manage yours well over the years. I know my sister has had some flare ups since, but nothing as intense or dangerous as what happened in high school. The only good thing to come out of that was my dad finally allowed us to get a dog, when my sis was in the hospital. Haha. Ended up being a great dog.
