I just saw on ESPNEWS that Rich Gannon offically retired as a Raiders today. Now that Gannon is out of Oakland Kerry Collins has to really carry the Raiders' offense. What are your takes on this?
Well, I think that we all saw this coming sooner or later. Gannon's best days are far behind him. He is constantly hurt, and has failed to make an impact in recent years. As for Kerry Collins... I don't think he will succeed here. I've never thought of him as a great QB. I think that he and Moss will feud this year due to his inconsistent play.
That sucks for the Raiders, I too dont like Collins that much either, they would've been better off if Gannon had of stayed, especially now with Randy Moss at Oak Town.
I'm a huge Rich Gannon fan, but I am glad he retired. He did some real good things in Oakland, but his time is gone.I am looking forward to this season with Kerry Collins at the helm. He played a lot better over the last four games last season once he learned the offense. Also, with Moss, they will be a vertical team. I think this fits Collins better. He's always been a good long ball quarterback, was at Penn State and in his good years as a Giant. He wasn't any good in the short game because he takes too long to release the ball.
With Oakland it's gonna be a funny one. Gannon gone and Moss in, and a NEW QB.As long as Oaklands O-line can protect their QB then Moss will get the ball and the team will be happy. I don't think it's gonna be a flash season for the Raiders but if the Raiders can finish up 9-7 with a playoff shot, then with out a doubt Oakland should expect good things. They won't have a bad season.
They don't have a NEW QB. Collins started 13 games last year. He has learned the system. Gannon wouldn't have been a better fit this year due to the fact that he can't throw it down the field. He's a great short-game passer, but they're trying to get vertical, especially with Randy Moss now.
I only considered him NEW because I didn't pay much attention to the Raiders last season and everytime someone mentions Raider I think of seniors. Ok 13 games great. If he can get the job done then that's fantastic.
Well..Rich Gannon was my favorite Raiders player all-time..and the fact that he's gone now makes me mad..and Kerry Collins only seems to be getting worse
