It's not a good look for the league. But ya, them stepping in is probably far fetched.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
And that was because the perception was that the Hornets were trading Paul for too little. What sense does it make for the league to step in to say, "Sorry, you're trying to drive too hard of a deal. We insist you give Simmons to Portland for CJ McCollum. We've decided that's only fair for those poor angry Philadelphia fans who have suffered so long under the yoke of an untraded Ben Simmons."

Morey still asking for 6 picks? He's never going to get it or anything close. May 1 pick and 1 pick swap but that's even pushing it.

The ousted Hinkie in Philly for tanking. And they instilled a guy they handpicked in Colangelo who was then fired soon after for using his wife's burner accounts to trash their players anonymously.

It's far fetched for Silver to get involved (as I said), but this standoff is not good for public perception on multiple levels.

You and I sir need to maybe go to counseling or something…..we have been having completely different opinions lately. I can’t think of a BETTER match for Dame and our team than Big Ben! Definitely a 2nd round team if he joins us. I think that’s a big step up from my 41-41 9th place prediction.

The funny thing is that this moron could have dealt Simmons for a decent haul at the draft. He got greedy and now he's holding the bag.

The league didn't step in against Hinkie, that was Philly ownership.

Sure I'd like to have Simmons on the Blazers.

But I'm not trading 6 years of Blazer potential #1 overall picks for Ben, that could be a disaster for the next decade of Blazers teams. On top of that the report says they also want CJ.

    Go Lakers?

I hear that, but you said you didn’t want him because him and Dame wouldn’t work well with each other……Shhhhhheeeeeiiiiiiitttttt! They would play so well off each other don’t you think?

Realistically do you think we're going to be #1 overall pick bad?

Fact is that prior reports had Philly cotegorically rejecting the idea of any deal in which CJ was the primary player returned. The idea that a CJ-centric deal is no longer a non-starter is absolutely a significant development.

This was my takeaway too. That and the fact that the picks package is so obviously overreaching makes me think the likelihood of this happening in the near future is reasonably high now...

Morey's back is against a wall, and it's clear he's not getting the offers he thought he'd be able to get. Every day that he doesn't trade Simmons, he's both screwing over his own team on the court and diminishing BS's trade value. Meanwhile, while none of us love the Dame/CJ duo, they're both at least playing and positive contributors to the locker room culture.

I didn't say that, in fact I think it has the potential to be a great duo much better than Dame and CJ.

I said there is risk that it MIGHT not work. In other words; its not an absolute guarantee the pairing will work great. The gamble of giving away all future Blazer draft picks is not worth it.

Yup. The line has moved. And in my opinion, Morey won't take this past the first week of the regular season. Don't want the players to turn on the organization. I think Ben will be moved toward the end of the month. They still have time. Let's do this!

Because it was BS from the Hornets perspective, IIRC. There were better offers on the table.

I think this deal would work in December.

Outside of Wall being a Klutch client, I don't really see major hangups. Perhaps Morey would want more, but he's not gonna get more. Maybe the Cavs would make one of those that lotto firsts a second

What's worse--I think that deal could actually work for Philly (though their defense would take a major hit)
