Unfortunately, donor organs are in very limited supply.

There are requirements and limitations put on people who are waiting for organs.

Some of those are no smoking, no drinking, no obesity, some mobility/exercise, and now in this case being vaccinated.

This is done for many reasons.

The biggest, donor organs are in very limited supply.

Also, the anti-rejection drugs taken by people who receive organs can drastically weaken their immune system. Even something like the flu can be very serious.

Wasting something literally life-giving as a donated organ is just not something that we are in a position to do.

I know some of this because my grandson died 3 1/2 years ago from pulmonary hypertension. He could have been placed on a donor list for a lung transplant but because he was also special needs he would not have been able to follow the extensive post-operative instructions for his rehabilitation.

    It sucked.

If you're not an organ donor please become one.

We are having our Preseason NBA Health Meeting with all the players and staff right now. The Team doctor is sharing some very informative information. As somebody who is not all over the facts, this was great to read.
Curious if the members on here who don’t believe we need to get vaccinated or argue in here everyday about it would mind giving me/us your educated opinion on this up to the date data.

I never said she deserved to die at all...that's a bullshit jab from you ..talk about spinning bullshit...you just did that ..I'm talking about religious principles that are against putting foreign objects in your god given body or however they phrase it...I hope she lives ..I won't get into your loosely put together logic ...waste of time. Try engaging someone else as you choose to criticize me for voicing an opinion about an article.....stay in your lane kid! Talk about her problem....not me.

    • Bills teammates Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis, and Star Lotulelei must spend at least five days away from the team facility due to COVID-19 contact tracing
    • Beasley, who refuses to get immunized, has been critical of the NFL's decision to lift COVID-19 restrictions for vaccinated players but not their teammates
    • Only unvaccinated players are subject to the five-day reentry quarantine
    • Unvaccinated players are tested daily, while fully vaccinated players are not
    • More than 90% of NFL players are now vaccinated, according to the league

You literally just made that up.
She is being given an ultimatum, not a choice.

How is being unvaccinated “pissing away” a kidney? You aren’t making sense. Her case has nothing to do with covid. She is arbitrarily being made an example of and you don’t care as long as someone you disagree with is being punished.

No, she has to be fully vaccinated to qualify. This is not just a covid-19 thing. If you aren't going to take care of the kidney you don't qualify. Fat people don't qualify.

Well obviously it’s straightforward for you. We’ve all seen your posts on here, you literally get giddy when the news breaks about someone unvaccinated dying of covid.

Well at least you can admit you ignore the facts... that's the first step.

From the actual article linked in the tweet some of you are "discussing" about.

The American Hospital Association, which represents nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems and networks in the United States, said it did not have data to share on the issue. But it said many transplant programs insist that patients get vaccinated for COVID-19 because of the weakened state of their immune system.

While any type of surgery may stress a patient’s immune system and leave them vulnerable to contracting COVID-19 later, organ transplants recipients are even more at risk because they have to take a powerful regime of drugs to suppress their immune system to keep their body from rejecting the new organ, which is seen by the body as a foreign object, Nancy Foster, AHA’s vice president for quality and patient safety policy said in a statement.

"Further, if patients were to wait to get their vaccine until after the surgery, it is unlikely that their immune system could mount the desired antibody reaction given that they are taking anti-rejection medications," she said.

Transplant centers in Washington, Vermont, Massachusetts and Alabama have policies requiring that recipients be vaccinated, according to news reports.

Cleveland Clinic recently decided to require COVID-19 vaccinations for both transplant recipients and living donors, the organization said in a statement.

Also according to the article in the original tweet her reason for not wanting the vaccine is...

When a Colorado woman found out her hospital wouldn’t approve her kidney transplant surgery until she got the COVID-19 vaccine, she was left with a difficult decision pitting her health needs against her religious beliefs.

Leilani Lutali, a born-again Christian, went with her faith.

Even though she has stage 5 kidney disease that puts her at risk of dying without a new kidney, Lutali, 56, said she could not agree to be vaccinated because of the role that fetal cell lines have played in the development of vaccines. Several types of cell lines created decades ago using fetal tissue are widely used in medical manufacturing but the cells in them today are clones of the early cells, not the original tissue.

"As a Christian, I can't support anything that has to do with abortion of babies, and the sanctity of life for me is precious," she said.

Considering that ibuprofen was developed using the very same cells she is against using I would bet at least some of the very drugs she would be given for her transplant were developed using those cells.

You honestly aren't going to look at the facts that came out TODAY and give me your educated opinion? Why not? You are just keeping this going because you're bored? I honestly am asking for your opinion. Not one of you that keep this battle going have replied and I can tell you it's a bit frustrating as somebody who actually hasn't done a ton of research on all this.
