Luckily we aren’t in Denver. Only people who can watch The Nuggets or Avalanche is if you have DirecTV. Nobody else. And it’s been like that for a couple seasons.

If we were in Denver, we'd have more than 1 fucking team to root for :)

Yeah, that's really not bad at all for "country living". Most folks outside the city don't get that choice. It's one of those mind boggling things to me. How we get this far into the internet age and still can't figure out a decent solution for the "rural" folks? Hopefully Elon and his sats will come through by the time I'm ready to get out of the city. Lol.

Really that’s pretty competitive for all your getting. Do it individually and you will spend more I’m thinking?

for sure, before I bundled, cable with HBO/Showime was around 150/month IIRC...maybe that's a little high. I used to get Cinemax, Starz...and a couple of other premium channels but I dropped them and that has saved quite a bit of money

Actually, anybody can watch all of the NBA games. They just aren't being given an option to do it contractually.

Stupid idiots and their stupid artificial scarcity... Oh well...

NWSL fans are freaking out that the only way they can watch the Thorns game is streaming on Paramount +! Going nuts cause the games always look like shit. Want to know why they can watch them on satellite or cable.

Streaming advocates will be disappointed to see that neither YouTube TV nor Hulu has signed up to carry the regional sports network (RSN) and the Kraken and Portland Trail Blazers games it is set to broadcast. But even more surprising, at least for now, is that Direct TV and its DirectTV Stream service also have yet to sign on for the additional Kraken and Trail Blazers programming.

“We are still in discussions with DirecTV and hope they will add the Kraken and Trail Blazers to their platforms,” AT&T Sports Networks President Patrick Crumb said in an interview after Tuesday’s announcement.

What that means for thousands of local DirecTV subscribers, if no deal is reached in short order, is that anyone tuning in to Thursday’s first scheduled ROOT Sports broadcast of the Kraken — for a game in Nashville against the Predators — will instead see alternate programming. The development is somewhat bizarre considering DirecTV and its streaming service is now controlled by TPG Capital, an equity company co-founded by Kraken majority owner David Bonderman.

TPG closed a deal in August to form a new entity that owns and operates DirecTV and its streaming service, which both had previously been under AT&T control. AT&T Sports Networks has a minority stake in Mariners-owned ROOT Sports and manages the RSN on the baseball team’s behalf.

Crumb had no further comment on the DirecTV situation, other than to say he hopes a deal can be reached in time for the debut Kraken broadcast.

On YouTube and Hulu bypassing an offer to pick up ROOT Sports, he was less optimistic.

“Unfortunately, notwithstanding the fans’ desire to see Kraken and Trail Blazers games, both are declining to carry the programming,” he said. “I don’t necessarily see that changing anytime soon.”

The deals that were struck include companies that encompass about 80% of existing ROOT Sports viewers. Of the 20% of viewers not included in the deals, the majority subscribe to DirecTV.

lol so all those claiming more people would get the broadcast are in shambles.

Not only do DirecTV or Dish customers remain screwed, but now it's not available on Hulu/Youtube either.

    What a disaster.

How does McGowan still have a job? And yes, this IS a problem created by the team.

It's on Spectrum and has been for years, that doesn't do much for people in Portland I know but it does help out some in the rest of the state.

Why do the TNT broadcasts and other national broadcasts of the Blazers from the Moda look better than the Comcast Sports NW broadcasts?

I just got a new TV so I'm still trying to figure out the overall quality of the Root Sports broadcasts.

@THE HCP have any upgrades or improvements been made to Blazer broadcast this year for those of us who can see the games?

Spectrum has a fairly low distribution even in rural OR.

    Ffffuuuuucccckkk mcgowan!!!!!

im fuming now after reading up on this!!!

    Can we start a petition?

Names of people who will no longer attend games or spend a penny on the Blazers until they make it viewable for most people?

If people will sign it, i will create it and i will digitally send it to many many many Blazers fans in hopes of getting a few thousand signatures at minimum.

I seriously cant believe this. Comcast is extremely limited except in larger metro areas.

this isn't a viable option without TNT. fubo + TNT via sling at the cheapest is ~110/month. i wish the team would stop peddling this over and over again as some sort of olive branch for cord cutters.
